Paul Krugman Torches Trump: “Stupid, Erratic, and Weak”  Warns of Economic Disaster Ahead

Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman had some strong things to say about Donald Trump’s latest moves on tariffs and the people who still support them. Krugman wrote that anyone who thinks Trump’s economic policies are working should probably not be trusted with sharp tools or heavy machinery. In other words, he thinks it’s that reckless and dangerous.

Trump just announced new tariffs: 10% on all countries and a massive 125% on China, but only for the next 90 days. Krugman said this sudden shift doesn’t solve anything. In fact, it adds more confusion and risk. He pointed out that the rest of the world now sees Trump as both unpredictable and weak, which is just as damaging to the economy as the tariffs themselves.

He asked a good question: If you were running a business, would you feel safe making big investments right now, knowing that in 90 days things could change again? He wouldn’t.

Krugman also said research has shown even smaller tariffs could really hurt the U.S. economy. The ones Trump just announced are far more extreme. In his opinion, these could be the biggest trade-related shock the U.S. and maybe the world has ever seen.

To make things worse, another economist said he was stunned to find out the Trump administration used his research to justify these tariffs, but completely misunderstood it. They used the data all wrong.

Former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen also spoke out, saying Trump’s tariff plans might be the worst case of a government hurting its own economy that she’s ever seen.

Bottom line: top economists across the board are sounding the alarm. They say Trump’s trade moves aren’t just bad they’re dangerously unstable, and could cause serious damage if they continue.
