Trump slammed for ‘hypocritical’ post about changing how public holidays work on Juneteenth

Donald Trump is getting a lot of criticism for complaining about federal holidays, especially Juneteenth. While many people enjoyed having the day off, Trump went online to say there are too many public holidays in the U.S. and that they’re costing the country billions of dollars because businesses are closed. He also claimed that workers don’t really want the time off.

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on June 19 to remember the end of slavery in the U.S. It’s been observed since 1866, especially in Texas, but only became a federal holiday in 2021 when President Joe Biden signed it into law. For many people, having it as a paid holiday was a welcome change  a chance to rest, be with family, and honor history.

But Trump doesn’t see it that way. On his platform, Truth Social, he wrote that the U.S. has too many non-working holidays and that soon, there might be a holiday for every workday if things don’t change. He said this needs to stop if the country wants to “Make America Great Again.”

His comments didn’t sit well with a lot of people online. Many pointed out that Trump, who often plays golf and takes breaks, shouldn’t be talking about too many holidays. One person said it’s funny how someone who golfs every few days is now saying regular people should work more. Another person said Trump’s post didn’t even make sense and joked about his confusing sentence, “a holiday for every once working day.”

Others said Trump has no idea what it’s like to be part of the working class. Some called him a hypocrite and said he doesn’t care about workers  he just wants to benefit the rich. One person said it clearly: “We want more days off. Paid holidays matter. And if we work on those days, we should get paid extra. That time helps us reset and be with our families.”

In short, while Trump says workers don’t want more holidays, many actual workers strongly disagree.
