Carole Radziwill, a former star of Real Housewives of New York City, revealed that she used to spend a lot of time with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., now the Secretary of Health and Human Services. She made some surprising claims about his unusual habits and the way he has changed over the years.
On the “On with Kara Swisher” podcast, Radziwill said Kennedy always had a strange fascination with roadkill. She described how he would often pick up dead animals from the road, leave them in his minivan, and sometimes forget about them, leaving the vehicle with a horrible smell. She recalled instances where a skunk or other animals would be left inside, making it unbearable.
Radziwill, whose late husband Anthony was close friends with Kennedy’s cousin, John F. Kennedy Jr., said she knew Robert and his late wife, Mary Richardson, very well. She spent time with them both before and after her husband’s death in 1999. However, she says the man she once knew as a passionate environmental advocate is very different from who he is now.
She expressed disappointment that Kennedy, who was once admired for his environmental work, has become associated with spreading conspiracy theories, promoting anti-vaccine beliefs, and avoiding responsibility for his actions. Radziwill believes his shift from focusing on the environment to becoming a leading figure in the anti-vaccine movement was more about making money than anything else. She suggested he turned to writing and speaking about vaccines and pharmaceutical companies as a business move rather than out of genuine concern.
The conversation also touched on how Kennedy’s actions may be damaging the Kennedy family’s reputation. Swisher mentioned the ongoing measles outbreak, which has been linked to anti-vaccine movements, and Radziwill implied that Kennedy’s influence played a role in spreading these harmful ideas.
Radziwill said she lost contact with Kennedy around the time his wife died in 2012, and even more so once he became a major voice in the anti-vaccine movement. She was critical of his career turn and even suggested that his appointment to President Donald Trump’s cabinet made sense because, as she put it, “grifters see grifters.”
