They’re goners’: Republicans warned they’re doomed because of ‘crazier every day’ Trump

Jennifer Rubin, who used to be a conservative but has since broken away from the Republican Party, gave a very blunt warning about where things are heading for Republicans.

She said the party is already facing big problems, and with Donald Trump as their leader, those problems are only getting worse. A government shutdown was close at hand, and instead of focusing on helping people or keeping the government running, Republicans were stuck defending a deeply unpopular former president whose actions are weighing them down.

Speaking on MSNBC, Rubin explained that Trump’s behavior isn’t just strange, it’s actually damaging to his own party. She said Democrats have an opportunity to take their case directly to the American people. In her view, the message should be clear and simple: Trump is after absolute power, and part of that means trying to strip away people’s health care. If Americans hear that message, Rubin believes they will push back hard, letting both the White House and Republican lawmakers know that they won’t stand for it.

Rubin also talked about how neither major party is especially popular right now, but Republicans are in an even worse position because they are tied so closely to Trump. Democrats may not be loved, but Rubin thinks that when election season comes around, voters will likely rally behind them simply because the alternative—Trump and the Republicans—feels far too risky and extreme. She emphasized that Trump’s image is deteriorating quickly, saying that he sounds more unhinged as time goes on, which is not the kind of leader most Americans want to see in charge.

Her warning was especially harsh for House Republicans. She said many of them are clinging to their seats, hoping they can hold on through the next election. But Rubin argued that their chances are slim. Voters will not believe them if they try to claim that they stood up to Trump or worked to protect ordinary people’s health care. The truth, in her eyes, is that they’ve tied themselves too closely to him, and that connection is toxic. She predicted that many of these lawmakers will lose their positions, no matter how much they try to separate themselves when it’s convenient.

In Rubin’s assessment, the Republican Party is in serious danger. By letting Trump dominate their agenda, they’ve put themselves in a situation where their popularity continues to sink, and their credibility with the public is crumbling. She suggested that the Democrats should take advantage of this moment, speaking directly to voters about what’s at stake. For Republicans, unless they change course dramatically, Rubin believes the outcome is clear: they are setting themselves up for defeat.
