Donald Trump sent a strong message to Republicans over the weekend, warning them not to be “weak and stupid” and urging them to make sure Democrats never get another chance to lead the country. Speaking on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump called on his party to fight hard and stay united, claiming that the future of America is at stake.
Earlier that day, Trump had already been lashing out online, accusing another late-night TV host of making “probably illegal” comments about him. But his main focus later turned to politics, where he tried to rally his supporters by warning that Democrats would use their power to change the system if they ever got full control again.
Trump claimed, without providing proof, that Democrats would get rid of the Senate filibuster rule, expand the Supreme Court, turn two territories into new states, and gain at least eight extra Electoral College votes. He wrote passionately, “Republicans, remember, no matter what happens with this so-called Schumer Shutdown, Democrats will eliminate the filibuster the first chance they get. Their two objectors are gone! Don’t be weak and stupid. Fight, fight, fight! Win, win, win!”
In another post, Trump promised that if Republicans followed his lead, they would end what he called the “extortionist shutdown” and quickly push through all of their goals once back in full control of the government. He said this would improve life for all Americans and prevent what he described as “deranged Democrat politicians” from ever “destroying America” again.
Trump ended his message with another rallying cry, warning Republicans that they would regret it if they didn’t act aggressively. “You will rue the day that you didn’t terminate the filibuster!” he said. “Be tough, be smart, and win! This is much bigger than the shutdown—it’s about the survival of our country!”
His comments reflect the ongoing tension between the two major political parties, as well as the growing divide within the Republican Party itself. Many of Trump’s supporters see his warnings as a call to action, while critics argue that his words are meant to stir fear and deepen political hostility. Regardless of how people view him, Trump’s message made clear that he wants Republicans to take a harder, more aggressive stance against Democrats in the coming political battles.
