Viral Video of Fargo Hotel Staff Using Hot Tub to Clean Bed Sheets ‘Disgusts’ the Internet

A shocking video from Fargo, North Dakota, has gone viral after it showed a hotel employee washing dirty bed sheets inside a hot tub meant for guests. The video, originally posted on TikTok, was filmed at Expressway Suites and quickly spread across social media, causing widespread disgust and outrage.

In the video, the worker can be seen tossing several stained sheets into the bubbling spa water, stirring them around as if doing laundry. Many viewers were horrified by the unhygienic act, with some saying it made them never want to stay in a hotel again.

After the video began trending on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), the hotel management responded to the backlash. They claimed that the sheets were only placed in the hot tub to remove small stains and insisted that the hot tub was drained and thoroughly cleaned afterward using strong cleaning equipment. The hotel also said that this method was only used when the pool area was closed and only as a last resort.

However, that explanation did not calm the public. Instead, it sparked even more anger and ridicule. One online user sarcastically commented, “They said they’ll check with health officials to see if it’s safe. Obviously, it’s not! That’s how you ruin the hot tub’s filters and spread bacteria.” Others mocked the hotel for making “fabric soup” and questioned how they could possibly think that was an acceptable cleaning method.

Many people pointed out that a washing machine — not a public spa — should be used for cleaning linens. Some called for fines and investigations into the hotel’s practices, accusing management of lying to save their reputation.

The video was filmed by a family staying at the hotel who witnessed the employee mixing the sheets in the tub with a broom. One of the guests, Alex Kenmille, told Valley News Live that he was shocked when he realized what was happening. “At first, I thought maybe the drain was broken, but then he started adding more sheets. I was like, what is going on? That’s disgusting. Are we supposed to sleep on those sheets?” he said.

Another guest commented that the idea of sitting in the same hot tub after something like that was unthinkable, saying, “Your skin would just come off. It’s so unhygienic.”

As outrage spread online, Fargo Cass Public Health confirmed that their Environmental Health Division had launched an investigation into the incident to determine if any health and safety laws were violated.

The viral story has become one of the most discussed topics on TikTok and X, with thousands of people expressing disbelief over what they called “the dirtiest hotel practice ever caught on camera.” Many say they’ll think twice before trusting hotel cleanliness again.
