She Does Not Care At All’: Jimmy Kimmel Spots Trump’s Cringey Phone Call With Melania
Late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel made fun of Melania Trump during his show on Tuesday after she promoted a new documentary about herself while her husband, Donald Trump, was dealing with a serious international conflict involving Iran.
Kimmel joked that it didn’t look great for the first lady to promote a personal film at the same time the president was carrying out military actions against another country. He said Melania has never really worried much about how things appear publicly, so the timing didn’t seem to bother her.
The documentary is called Melania and reportedly cost about $75 million to make. Kimmel mocked the film and said it could easily end up being nominated for the Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the Razzies, which highlight the worst movies of the year.
He also joked that between this documentary and the movie Sinners — which has been nominated for a record number of Academy Awards — it has been a big year for “vampire movies.”
Kimmel then played a clip from the documentary showing a phone call between Melania and Donald Trump on the night the results of the 2024 election were officially confirmed.
In the clip, Melania greets him by saying “Hi, Mr. President” and congratulates him. Trump asks if she watched the certification of the election results, but she replies that she didn’t because she had meetings all day. She says she will catch it later on the news.
As Trump continues talking about how many electoral votes he received and how historic the moment was, Melania mostly responds with short answers like “yes” and “that’s for sure.” At one point she simply says, “That’s a good one.”
After showing the clip, Kimmel burst out laughing and said it was one of the funniest conversations he had ever heard. He joked that Melania sounded completely uninterested in the conversation, adding that it almost made him feel a little sorry for Trump because, in his view, she seemed like she didn’t care at all.
