President Donald Trump launched into a lengthy and fiery social media post on Saturday after a judge ruled that his name must be removed from the Kennedy Center and that renovation work connected to the project should stop.
The post, which stretched beyond 700 words, showed Trump’s anger over the court decision. He strongly criticized the ruling and directed much of his frustration toward the judge who made it, U.S. District Judge Casey Cooper.
Judge Cooper recently ruled that the changes involving Trump’s name and the renovation plans at the Kennedy Center were not lawful. According to the judge, Congress has the authority to decide matters involving the naming and identity of the famous performing arts center, not the president acting alone.
In response, Trump claimed the judge could not be impartial. He focused on the professional background of the judge’s wife, Amy Jeffress, a former Justice Department prosecutor who worked during the Clinton administration and later served as a lawyer for former President Joe Biden. Trump described her as a “radical left Democrat” and argued that her past political connections created a conflict of interest for her husband.
Trump insisted that the judge should have disclosed more information about his wife’s career and claimed that the court process was unfair to him. He argued that because of her connections, he could not receive a fair hearing in the case.
In his post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that Amy Jeffress was deeply connected to what he called the political left and suggested that these ties influenced the judge. He went even further by saying Judge Cooper should face criminal charges for allegedly failing to reveal what Trump viewed as important information about his wife’s background.
The president’s comments became increasingly dramatic as he predicted serious consequences for the Kennedy Center. Trump claimed that the institution could soon be forced to close and even suggested it might never reopen, although he provided no evidence to support that claim.
The outburst came just one day after Trump had already attacked Judge Cooper in another social media message. In that earlier post, Trump highlighted the fact that Cooper had been appointed to the federal bench by former President Barack Obama, whom Trump referred to by his full name, Barack Hussein Obama.
The latest clash adds to a growing list of public disputes between Trump and members of the judiciary. Throughout his political career, Trump has frequently criticized judges who ruled against him, often questioning their motives, backgrounds, or political affiliations. This latest episode continues that pattern, as the legal battle over the Kennedy Center has now become another high-profile confrontation between the president and the courts.
