Serial sex predator who murdered two women and raped a third in chilling Crime Face a Terrible Fate that he Never Saw Coming
A serial sex offender who murdered two women and raped another while he was free on bail will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Simon Levy, 40, was given a whole-life order after carrying out a series of violent and sexually motivated attacks against vulnerable women across London.
His violent crime spree began in January 2025 when he attacked a woman near Tottenham High Road in North London. Levy jumped on her with his full weight, breaking her collarbone. He covered her face, strangled her until she lost consciousness and raped her. The woman survived but told the court that she believed she was going to die.
Two months later, 53-year-old Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo was found dead inside a largely unused block of flats on the Aylesbury Estate in Peckham, South East London. Her body was discovered face down near a stairwell on March 17.
Police found Levy’s blood on a pipe close to where Carmenza’s body was discovered. His DNA was also found on her body. Levy was arrested as one of seven suspects but was released under investigation on April 1.
Five months later, while he was still free, Levy murdered 39-year-old Sheryl Wilkins. She was found near a B&M store in Tottenham on August 24. CCTV showed her walking with Levy behind a wall in the store’s car park shortly before she was killed.
The case has raised serious concerns because Levy had been arrested several times before Sheryl’s murder. British Transport Police had detained him over a series of sexual assaults on women on London Underground and Overground services, but he was repeatedly released on bail.
The Metropolitan Police had also closed its first investigation into the January rape, even though the surviving victim knew where Levy lived. Officers did not formally interview her until after Levy had murdered the two other women.
The Crown Prosecution Service also admitted that mistakes were made. Prosecutors did not oppose bail during one court hearing and failed to provide all the important information needed at another hearing.
Levy later missed three Crown Court hearings, but no arrest warrant was requested. Just 13 days after one of those missed hearings, he murdered Sheryl.
During sentencing, Judge Mark Lucraft KC said Levy used other people to satisfy his own violent sexual desires. The judge also said he appeared to have a disturbing obsession with sex, rape and crime.
Levy was convicted of two murders, two rapes, causing serious injury with intent and suffocating the surviving woman. Jurors were told that he deliberately targeted vulnerable women, killing two and leaving another for dead.
Police found a document on Levy’s computer titled “My sex record”. They also discovered that he had searched online for Andrew Tate and collected stories about convicted or accused sexual predators, including John Worboys, Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein.
The court heard emotional statements from the victims’ families. Sheryl’s sister, Lindsey Hicks, said Levy had destroyed their lives and described Sheryl as a beautiful person who had been cruelly taken away.
Carmenza’s daughter, Nazly Johana Fuenmayor Valencia, broke down in court as she explained that her family’s world had been torn apart. She said that receiving justice could never remove their pain.
The surviving victim said the attack had taken away her dignity and left her feeling weak and broken.
Levy had a long history of sexual offending dating back to 2018. He was previously jailed in 2021 for sexually assaulting two women—one at Notting Hill Carnival and another at a party in Camden. He was released in February 2023.
He was later convicted of 11 more sexual assaults committed between April 2022 and May 2025. His first victim in that case was a prison officer at HMP Brixton. Ten other women were attacked on trains and Tube services across London.
Levy was being monitored by police and the probation service as a convicted sex offender. However, he repeatedly lied to officers who visited him at the home he shared with his mother. He claimed that he rarely went outside and spent his time watching YouTube videos and films.
The Metropolitan Police, British Transport Police and Crown Prosecution Service have all admitted that there were failures in the way Levy’s case was handled.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct has served a gross misconduct notice on a Metropolitan Police constable and a misconduct notice on a detective sergeant.
Police eventually identified Levy using live facial-recognition technology. He was charged on September 3, 2025, and kept in custody.
Levy has now received a whole-life prison sentence, meaning he will never be released. Police are urging any other women who may have been attacked by him to come forward.
