‘Are you stupid? Donald Trump explodes at reporter after being called out on false claims

President Donald Trump lost his temper during a press event after a reporter challenged him on something he said that wasn’t true. Trump had been claiming that Afghan migrants who came into the United States were never checked or screened for security risks. But in reality, these migrants were vetted by the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI before they were allowed to enter. This was already documented in government reports, including ones released during Trump’s own time in office.

The press event took place in Palm Beach, Florida, around Thanksgiving. Trump repeated his belief that the migrants “came in unvetted” and insisted that many people in the country “shouldn’t be here.” He said the government needed to remove these individuals, suggesting that the process to deport people was too slow or too difficult under current U.S. laws.

His comments came the day after a terrible shooting in Washington, D.C. An Afghan migrant had shot two members of the National Guard, and one of them died from their injuries the following evening. The incident created a wave of political reactions, with several conservative lawmakers and people connected to Trump publicly blaming the Biden administration for allowing the shooter into the country. They argued that better immigration controls might have prevented the tragedy, even though the facts about vetting did not support Trump’s statements.

During the press conference, one reporter directly challenged Trump by pointing out that government reviews showed Afghan migrants had undergone thorough background checks. The reporter mentioned that Trump’s own Justice Department and inspector general had confirmed this earlier in the year. The reporter then asked why Trump continued to blame the Biden administration for the shooter’s actions if the screening had actually taken place.

Trump reacted sharply, raising his voice and insulting the reporter. He repeatedly called the reporter “stupid” and accused them of asking questions only to provoke him. His tone grew more heated as he insisted that the migrants had arrived by plane as part of a large group of people who “shouldn’t be here.” He complained that once someone enters the country, it becomes extremely difficult to remove them because of existing laws.

The exchange highlighted how emotionally charged immigration and national security issues have become, especially in the days following violent incidents. Trump’s outburst also reflected the broader political tension surrounding the topic, with some officials using the shooting to criticize the current administration’s policies even when official records contradicted some of the claims being made.
