Barack and Michelle Obama recently responded to rumors that their marriage is in trouble, directly addressing the speculation that they might be heading for divorce. The couple has been married for over 31 years and have two daughters, Malia (27) and Sasha (24).
Although Barack has been out of the White House for almost a decade—he served as president from 2009 to 2017—the public continues to keep a close eye on their personal lives. And recently, talk has been swirling that the former first couple may have hit a rough patch.
Michelle spoke openly about these rumors during an episode of her podcast, *Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast (IMO)*, which she co-hosts with her brother, Michael. Barack was a guest on the episode, and the two took time to clear the air.
Michelle acknowledged that some people think they’ve split up, saying, “Folks think we’re divorced.” But she made it clear that isn’t the case. She added, “There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quitting my man.” She admitted they’ve had their share of challenges, but also said they’ve shared many joyful experiences and that being married to Barack has helped her grow into a better person.
Barack was visibly moved by her words, telling her not to make him cry at the start of the show. The moment was filled with emotion and honesty, showing just how deep their bond still is.
Michelle also reflected on the early years of their marriage, especially after the birth of their first daughter, Malia. She said Barack was a hands-on dad from the start. He never shied away from changing diapers or taking care of the babies. Because they split parenting responsibilities equally, she said, Barack built a strong connection with their daughters that still exists today.
Despite the outside noise and pressure from being such a well-known couple, the Obamas say they are still committed to one another, still growing together, and still very much a team.
