Biden Adviser Neera Tanden Testifies She Didn’t See Any Evidence Of ‘Mental Decline’ By Former President At House Hearing

Neera Tanden, who used to lead President Biden’s Domestic Policy Council, spoke at a congressional hearing this week. Lawmakers are looking into whether President Biden was mentally fit while he was in office. Tanden told them she never saw any signs that Biden was mentally slipping or unable to do his job.
She spoke with several members of Congress, including Republican James Comer from Kentucky and Democrats Robert Garcia from California and Wesley Bell from Missouri.
During her testimony, Tanden criticized the investigation itself. She said that just because she was willing to talk to the committee didn’t mean she agreed with the investigation or thought it was important. In her view, the committee should focus more on Donald Trump’s administration, not Biden’s.
Tanden also said that while working in the White House, she never saw any indication that Biden’s staff had to take over responsibilities from him. She felt that Biden was still handling his duties.
She did acknowledge that she had permission to use a machine called an autopen to sign documents for Biden. This means she sometimes signed papers on his behalf, but she didn’t know who exactly gave her that permission.
Tanden avoided reporters and didn’t answer any of their questions as she came and went from the hearing.
Interestingly, the Trump administration allowed her to speak freely at the hearing. They chose not to use executive privilege, which would have limited what she could say. According to Trump’s team, this situation was too important to block her testimony.
Previously, when Congress investigated the January 6th Capitol riot, the Biden administration also allowed testimony about Trump’s presidency by waiving executive privilege for that case.
The political tension between both parties continues, especially when it comes to who should be held accountable and what topics deserve the most attention from Congress.
