Doctor Calls Trump’s MRI Claims ‘Nonsensical’ — Warns of Evident Signs of Health Decline

A well-known doctor has strongly criticized the White House’s claim that President Donald Trump is in “perfect health,” calling it misleading and saying that his recent MRI story “makes no sense.” The doctor, Dr. Vin Gupta, believes that Trump is clearly showing signs of aging and possible health decline, both mentally and physically, and that the public is not being told the full truth.

Questions about Trump’s health have been in the news for a long time, especially since he started his second term in January 2025. For months, people have been debating his medical reports, his behavior in public, and whether he is as healthy as his team says he is. Psychologists, medical experts, critics, and even some members of his own family have spoken out, warning that something seems wrong.

One of those voices is psychologist John Gartner, who has previously said that Trump’s frequent word mix-ups and strange speech patterns are not just normal signs of getting older. He says these language problems, known as “phonemic paraphasia,” can be a sign of neurological issues, meaning the brain might not be working as sharply as before. Other critics, such as author Michael Wolff and Trump’s niece Mary Trump, have also accused the White House of hiding important information about his true condition.

Recently, The Irish Star reported on new comments from Dr. Vin Gupta, a lung specialist and medical analyst who helps lead health content for the Meidas Touch Network. Dr. Gupta called Trump’s story about his MRI “nonsensical.” He explained that MRIs are not part of basic, routine check-ups like blood tests or a simple physical exam. Instead, MRIs are usually ordered when doctors suspect something serious or need a closer look at a specific part of the body.

According to what is publicly known, Trump’s MRI came during a “follow-up” appointment after a previous visit where he was said to be in “excellent health.” Earlier, he had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a condition where the veins in the legs do not return blood to the heart properly. There were also reported signs that he might be developing knock knees and that his walking pattern, or gait, had visibly changed.

Dr. Gupta pointed out that an MRI is not a small or casual test. He said an MRI usually takes around 15 to 45 minutes, and during the scan, the machine makes loud banging sounds. He stressed that any patient undergoing an MRI will clearly know which part of their body is being scanned. Because of this, he found Trump’s description of the test and the way it was presented by the White House to be very suspicious. In his view, this is not how a normal “routine exam” works, and he strongly criticized the administration for how they are explaining it.

Beyond the MRI issue, Dr. Gupta said he is worried about how Trump has been acting in public. He pointed to Trump’s long, rambling speeches, moments of confusion, slow recall, and general tired appearance as signs that his health is not as strong as officials claim. He spoke of “accelerated aging,” reduced sharpness in thinking, lower alertness, and possible blood vessel-related problems. In simple terms, he believes Trump is getting older fast, and his body and mind are clearly showing it. As he put it bluntly, “he’s old and it’s showing.”

On the other side, Trump’s official physician, Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, has repeatedly said that the president is fine. Barbabella has been overseeing Trump’s medical exams since he returned to power. According to the doctor, Trump recently spent around three hours at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for a planned follow-up visit. During this time, he reportedly had imaging tests, lab work, and other preventive checks. He also received his annual flu shot and a COVID-19 booster.

Trump himself spoke proudly about the MRI, telling people, “I got an MRI, it was perfect,” without giving details about what exactly was examined or why the test was done. The MRI was said to have taken place just before his trip to the Middle East, which added even more attention and curiosity.

Earlier in November, Trump appeared on CBS News for a “60 Minutes” interview with host Norah O’Donnell. During the interview, while they discussed major political issues, many viewers focused less on his words and more on how he looked. Trump appeared tired and weak, and people noticed he seemed to be sweating heavily while sitting in his usual dark suit and red tie. After the episode aired, social media users began to comment on his appearance and behavior.

One political commentator, Harry Sisson, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Trump looked “absolutely awful, incoherent, rambling, and dripping in sweat,” adding, “This man is not well!” Comments like this spread quickly online, adding more fuel to the debate over the president’s health.

Right now, there are two very different stories being told. On one side, the White House and Trump’s official doctor insist that he is in good health and that his tests, including the MRI, came back fine. On the other side, outside medical experts and critics say the picture does not add up. They argue that his behavior, his appearance, and the unusual use of an MRI all suggest that something more serious may be going on.

For ordinary people watching from the outside, it can be confusing. Most of the public doesn’t see the full medical reports, only short statements from the White House and opinions from doctors and commentators on TV and online. Until the administration releases more detailed and transparent information, many will continue to suspect that there is more to the story than what is being shared.

For now, all people can really do is pay attention to Trump’s public appearances, listen to what both his doctors and outside experts are saying, and wait to see if any clearer, official update is released in the future. The debate over his true health condition, however, is unlikely to go away anytime soon.
