Donald Trump Declares Stephen Colbert a ‘Dead Man Walking,’ Says He Should Be ‘Put to Sleep’

Donald Trump has launched another fierce online attack, this time targeting late-night TV host Stephen Colbert, calling him a “dead man walking” and even saying he should be “put to sleep.” The comments came from the 79-year-old former president in a long post on Truth Social, where he openly mocked and insulted the comedian.
Trump began by describing Colbert as a “pathetic trainwreck” and claimed he has no real talent or ability to succeed in show business. As usual, the post quickly turned into a full rant, with Trump venting his anger at anyone in the media who criticises him. He said Colbert had become even worse after CBS cancelled his show, claiming the network “left him out to dry.” Trump also insisted that Colbert’s ratings were “nonexistent” and accused him of surviving only on anger and bitterness.
He then escalated his language, calling Colbert a “dead man walking” and saying CBS should “put him to sleep now,” describing it as the “humanitarian thing to do.” The comments shocked many observers due to how extreme and personal they were.
Trump didn’t stop there. He went on to attack other major TV networks and their hosts, asking whether Colbert was on CBS, ABC, or NBC before answering his own question. According to Trump, all of the networks share the same problems: high salaries, no talent, and very low ratings. He also suggested that broadcasters could lose their licenses if they continue to speak negatively about him.
In his post, Trump argued that if TV networks and their hosts are “almost 100% negative” toward him, MAGA supporters, and the Republican Party, then their broadcast licenses should be taken away. He openly said he believes those licenses should be terminated.
At the same time, Colbert is preparing to say goodbye to his show following CBS’s decision to cancel it. The network has said the move was made purely for financial reasons and had nothing to do with politics. Trump, however, celebrated the decision publicly, praising CBS for pulling the plug.
Back in July, Trump wrote that he was happy Colbert had been fired, claiming his talent was even lower than his ratings. He also took a swipe at another late-night host, Jimmy Kimmel, suggesting he could be next and saying Kimmel has even less talent than Colbert.
While tearing down his critics, Trump made sure to lift up one TV personality he likes. He praised Greg Gutfeld, calling him the best talk show host on television and claiming he is better than all the others combined.
Trump’s outburst also caught the attention of fellow late-night hosts, including Seth Meyers, who joked that just one word in Trump’s rant showed how unhinged and angry he sounded. The episode has once again highlighted how Trump continues to use social media to attack critics in the entertainment and media world, even as reactions to his words grow more alarmed.
