Donald Trump has come out strongly in support of Attorney General Pam Bondi, urging his followers not to turn on her despite growing criticism from within his own base. Some of his supporters have recently expressed frustration and even called for her resignation due to how the Department of Justice handled documents related to the late Jeffrey Epstein.
But Trump isn’t having it. He insisted that Bondi is doing an excellent job, and warned his MAGA supporters not to attack one of their own. He described Bondi as being part of the same team Team MAGA and said that he didn’t like seeing people attacking her, especially when she’s working hard to fight for what he believes are the real issues.
In his Truth Social post, Trump showed frustration that people are still talking about Epstein, calling him “the guy who never dies” because his name and the rumors surrounding him keep coming up over and over.
He suggested that all of this renewed focus on Epstein was actually a trap set by his political enemies former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, James Comey, John Brennan, and even people connected to President Joe Biden.
Trump believes these figures had a hand in creating the so-called “Epstein Files,” just like, in his view, they created the Steele dossier that linked his 2016 campaign to Russia. He accused some of his own followers of playing right into the hands of the left by giving these files so much attention.
He went on to ask a pointed question: if these documents were truly damaging to him or to the MAGA movement, why didn’t his political enemies release them years ago? Why would they sit on something so potentially explosive if it could have hurt him? His implication is that the Epstein files are either meaningless or part of a broader misinformation campaign.
Trump believes the DOJ and FBI are wasting their time revisiting Epstein-related materials when they should be looking into what he sees as far more pressing issues—like alleged voter fraud, the legitimacy of the 2020 election, and corruption among Democrats. He called the 2020 election “rigged and stolen” once again and claimed that the same thing is happening with the 2024 election. In his view, Pam Bondi is one of the few people actually looking into these matters with seriousness and integrity.
Trump was particularly dismissive of the media’s continued focus on Epstein. During a Cabinet meeting, when a reporter tried to ask Bondi about Epstein, Trump interrupted and expressed disbelief.
He questioned why anyone was still asking about Epstein, calling him a “creep” and saying there are far more important issues facing the country. He seemed visibly annoyed that the media continues to return to the same story rather than focusing on what he sees as real problems.
The backdrop to all this is a recent joint statement from the DOJ and FBI that shut down the long-standing theory about a secret Epstein “client list.” The report concluded there was no such list that named high-profile individuals who were involved in Epstein’s crimes. It also reaffirmed the official conclusion that Epstein died by suicide in his New York jail cell in 2019.
This did not go over well with some members of Trump’s base, many of whom still believe there is more to the story and that Bondi and the DOJ are either hiding something or refusing to dig deeper. This led to backlash against Bondi, even from high-profile conservative figures.
Reportedly, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has been especially upset with how Bondi is handling the situation. According to sources close to him, he has even said he may resign from his position if Bondi stays in office. This suggests that the internal tensions within Trump’s circle are growing more intense, with even top officials considering walking away over disagreements about priorities and trust.
Trump, however, is sticking by Bondi. He emphasized that she is focusing on the issues that matter like protecting election integrity and investigating the actions of Democrats—not getting stuck in what he sees as pointless controversies about a man who’s long gone and whose story, in his eyes, has been talked to death.
He said that a year ago, the country was in terrible shape, but now it’s “the hottest country anywhere in the world.” He doesn’t want to lose momentum or waste time on things he believes don’t matter.
He wrapped up his defense of Bondi by asking everyone to let her do her job. For Trump, loyalty is a major virtue, and he sees Bondi as loyal and effective. His message was clear: focusing on Epstein now is a distraction, and attacking someone like Bondi only helps their political enemies.
At the same time, Trump seems to be trying to lighten his own load. He talked about spending more time with family, enjoying cooking for his grandkids, and even joked that while they aren’t sold on how he makes eggs, they definitely like his bacon. It’s a moment of personal reflection amid the usual political firestorm a sign that even as he wages these public battles, he’s also trying to hold onto some kind of normalcy.
