Donald Trump in a ‘far darker’ place than he admits and GOP has ‘no way’ to escape: analyst

A Democratic political strategist named Simon Rosenberg recently shared his opinion that former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party are in a much worse political situation than they are letting on publicly. As Congress struggles to agree on a new federal budget, disagreements are beginning to split the Republican base.

Rosenberg believes that Republicans are unlikely to be able to pass a new budget anytime soon. If they do manage to pass one, they’ll have to support many of Trump’s past policies policies that many voters now dislike.

These include things like aggressive immigration enforcement, trade disputes that hurt the economy, and what he sees as poor overall management of the country.

He said that Trump and the Republicans are in a deeper political hole than most people realize. He argued that they will soon be forced to stand behind a government that, in his view, has caused serious and deliberate damage to the country.

He accuses them of violating people’s rights, weakening democratic institutions, damaging America’s reputation around the world, and making the country less safe. He also criticized Trump personally, calling him unstable and out of touch.

Even if the Republicans manage to avoid passing a budget and delay a full political showdown, Rosenberg believes they can’t run from their record. He suggests that no political ad or spin can erase the consequences of their actions.

Rosenberg poses a big question: will Republicans eventually try to distance themselves from Trump and the more controversial parts of his administration like cuts to health care, the use of tariffs, and the expansion of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement)? Or will they stick with him out of fear or political pressure?

In his view, this budget battle is just the beginning of a larger struggle for the future of the Republican Party.
