Donald Trump Lawyer Says He Asked Epstein in Final Days If He Had Dirt on His Client

Donald Trump’s former lawyer, David Schoen—who also briefly represented Jeffrey Epstein shortly before Epstein died in 2019—said something surprising in June. He revealed that while working with Epstein in prison, he directly asked him if he had any damaging information about Trump. According to Schoen, Epstein told him he didn’t.

These comments came back into public attention after a leaked Justice Department memo surfaced last week. The memo, reported by Axios, stated that Epstein died by suicide and that there was no secret list of high-profile people he used for blackmail, which contradicts many conspiracy theories.

Schoen had made his statement back on June 6, before this memo became public, right after Elon Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Trump was mentioned in the Epstein files. Musk suggested that this was the real reason those files were never made public but he deleted the post soon after.

Schoen, who not only defended Epstein but also worked as Trump’s impeachment lawyer, posted a message defending Trump. He wrote that Epstein had talked to him for months before hiring him officially and that during that time, he had asked Epstein clearly if he had any dirt on Trump. Epstein, according to Schoen, said no. Schoen insisted that Epstein had nothing that could hurt Trump.

However, this situation has stirred division among Trump’s supporters. Some loyal MAGA followers are upset after the Justice Department memo came out. They believe something is being hidden and feel betrayed. Big conservative voices like Tucker Carlson, Laura Loomer, and Steve Bannon have even turned against Attorney General Pam Bondi, accusing her of failing them.

Trump, on the other hand, is standing by Bondi. In a recent Cabinet meeting, he downplayed the attention on Epstein, calling him a “creep.” Trump also claimed that the whole scandal around the Epstein files was made up by Obama, Clinton, and Biden—whom he accused of being part of a group of political criminals. He suggested the entire controversy was just a trick to distract people from the truth.
