The President of the United States recently met with Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands after attending NATO meetings. During this visit, a short video started going viral online that seems to show Queen Maxima making fun of how President Donald Trump talks, right in the middle of a live photo session.
Lately, Trump has been making a lot of news, especially due to the conflict between Iran and Israel. He strongly criticized both countries, accusing them of breaking a ceasefire and not knowing what they’re doing. Despite the serious international tension, Trump traveled to the Netherlands to join other world leaders at the 2025 NATO Summit. The goal of this summit is to strengthen the alliance and improve cooperation between countries.
While there, Trump—known for grabbing the spotlight—once again became the center of attention. In one odd moment, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte jokingly referred to Trump as “daddy” while they discussed the Iran-Israel situation. Trump had compared the two countries to schoolkids fighting, saying they just need a couple of minutes to wear each other out before being stopped. That’s when Rutte made the strange comment.
Now, it’s Queen Maxima who’s getting a lot of attention. In a clip that’s been widely shared on social media, she appears to mimic how Trump talks. It happened during a photo session, where Trump stood between the King and Queen, smiling and giving a thumbs-up. He said “thank you” to the crowd, and in response, the Queen looked away and seemed to imitate the way he said it—especially the way he moved his mouth and tongue.
Earlier, Trump had told the King, “That’s the picture we want,” and the King responded by joking, “Well, I hope you slept well!” Trump then complimented their residence and thanked everyone for coming, and that’s when the Queen appeared to make the mocking gesture.
The clip sparked all kinds of reactions online. Some people praised Queen Maxima, calling her bold and saying she handled Trump like a child. One person even wrote, “I’ve never been a fan of the monarchy, but Queen Maxima rocks it!” Others joked that she was trying to put as much space between herself and Trump as possible without stepping out of the photo.
Not everyone found it funny, though. Some people criticized her, saying it was disrespectful and uncalled for, especially from someone in her position. One commenter wrote, “How low can you go? She’s supposed to be a queen, and that behavior is just shameful.” Another called the moment “creepy.”
The incident continues to stir debate online, with people split over whether the Queen’s reaction was playful and human—or inappropriate and rude.
