President Donald Trump recently shared his thoughts about his children and how he sees their future, especially in politics. He appeared on a new podcast hosted by Miranda Devine from the New York Post and opened up about his kids, their personal achievements, and how he raised them.
When asked if his oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., might run for president one day, Trump didn’t give a straight yes or no. Instead, he said, “I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know. I think all of them probably have a future in politics, frankly.” He sounded proud and hopeful about the idea. He went on to say that Don Jr. is a very good person, someone who enjoys nature and outdoor activities, and he described him as a strong man with a good personality.
Trump didn’t stop there—he also talked about the rest of his children. About Don Jr., he said he has done a great job building a public image and has a sharp understanding of politics. He called him “excellent” and “a decent man,” showing how much he respects his son’s work and character.
Then he spoke about Eric Trump. Trump praised Eric for the hard work he’s put into the family business. Eric is now a trustee and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, which runs their business empire. Trump said Eric has done a fantastic job and sounded very impressed with how he has handled responsibilities.
He also talked about his daughter Ivanka. Trump said, “She’s so great,” and recalled the time she worked closely with him during his presidency. Ivanka was involved in several government initiatives, but lately, both she and her husband Jared Kushner have taken a step back from the political spotlight. Still, Trump clearly respects what they contributed.
About Tiffany Trump, his daughter from a different relationship, Trump said she went to an excellent law school and did very well there. Tiffany lives a quiet life and recently became a mother. Trump didn’t go into much detail about her, but he seemed proud of her academic success and the new stage of life she’s in.
Trump also praised his youngest son, Barron. He called Barron “very tall and good” and said he’s “great.” He mentioned that Barron is now attending New York University (NYU), and although he’s still young, Trump clearly sees potential in him too.
He didn’t forget to mention Lara Trump, who is married to Eric. Trump spoke about how involved she is in politics. Lara now hosts her own show on Fox News called My View with Lara Trump and previously served as co-chair of the Republican National Committee, helping shape the party’s direction.
Trump also talked about how he raised his kids and what he always told them growing up. He said that he made it clear: no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes. He added, jokingly, that he didn’t like tattoos either, but he didn’t push too hard on that part because, as he said, many people choose to get tattoos and it’s their decision. Still, he repeated that he always reminded his children to stay away from drugs, smoking, and drinking, because he believed that staying clean was very important for success.
One of the most emotional parts of the interview came when Trump talked about Barron’s relationship with Melania’s mother, Amalija Knavs, who passed away in February 2024 at the age of 78. Trump became visibly emotional and said that Barron really wanted his grandmother to be near him when he went to school. She was supposed to live in an apartment nearby and stay close to him. But sadly, she died before that could happen. Trump said she was a wonderful woman, and he also called Melania an amazing mother.
By the end of the podcast, Trump made it clear that he thinks his family will stay involved in American politics for years to come. He said his children were “born smart,” but that’s not all—they also work hard and treat people well, which he sees as key qualities for leadership. He sounded proud, hopeful, and confident in their future.
