A retired U.S. Navy commander named Paul Mazich says we should be paying more attention to Donald Trump’s health right now than worrying about Joe Biden’s health while he was president. He believes Trump is showing more troubling signs today that could affect the country in serious ways.
Lately, Trump has been making confusing and strange public speeches since returning to the White House. In one recent talk, he told a story that didn’t make any sense he claimed that his uncle, John Trump, had taught the terrorist Ted Kaczynski, known as the Unabomber. But that couldn’t be true because his uncle died years before Kaczynski was even arrested.
Despite this, Trump continues to present himself as mentally sharp. He recently bragged about passing a mental test, saying he got every answer right. But many experts disagree. Bandy Lee, a psychiatrist who taught at Yale for 17 years, says Trump has been showing signs of mental decline since 2017.
In fact, a group of over 50 doctors—including psychiatrists, brain experts, and dementia specialists signed a statement last year saying Trump’s behavior has been getting more bizarre and harder to ignore. They pointed to examples like his strange walk, his jumbled speech, and the way his thinking seems to have become simpler and less clear.
Mazich says Congress should take these signs seriously. Instead of wasting time on investigating Biden who is no longer in office he believes lawmakers need to look into whether Trump is still mentally and physically fit to lead the country. And if they find that Trump is no longer capable, Mazich insists they must act in the best interest of the nation, not just to score political points.
The debate about the health of both current and former presidents is heating up, but Mazich’s main point is simple: Trump is in charge now, and that’s who should be under the microscope.
