Eric Idle Was Asked What’s Funny About Trump And His Answer Was No Laughing Matter

Eric Idle, a famous British comedian best known from Monty Python, made it clear in a recent interview that he doesn’t find anything funny about former U.S. President Donald Trump.

When asked if there’s anything genuinely humorous about Trump, Idle simply said there’s nothing funny at all. In fact, he said the only thing that will be funny is the celebration that happens when Trump finally leaves office. He even joked that people will be dancing in the streets.

Idle didn’t hold back his feelings. He said Trump keeps doing stupid things and called him a “treasonous monster” who he believes is working for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Idle, who now lives in the U.S. but spends summers in France, said he tries to avoid American news because he’s tired of hearing about Trump constantly. According to him, people in the U.S. are obsessed with Trump like it’s an addiction, and he finds that exhausting.

In the same interview, Idle was also asked about a rumor involving his mother. A reader wanted to know if his school nurse, who went by the name “Nurse Idle,” was actually his mom. Idle confirmed this was true and explained that she gave out vaccines at school. He added that she would have strongly disliked Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is known for opposing vaccines, because she believed vaccines were extremely important.

Idle has criticized Trump often on social media over the years. Back in 2020, when a recording came out of Melania Trump saying she didn’t care about Christmas, Idle joked that she should sing a duet with him on his song called “Fuck Christmas.” The year before, he mocked Trump again by suggesting a ridiculous Monty Python-style solution to help fund Trump’s border wall project.

Idle’s comments were part of a larger interview where he answered questions from both fans and celebrities, and he made it clear he’s not shy about sharing his opinions—especially when it comes to politics.
