Eye-opening new Trump approval ratings show what US really thinks of him 5 months into presidency

It seems that Donald Trump is starting to lose support in one of the areas where he was once very strong. A new poll has given a clear picture of how Americans feel about him now that he’s been back in office for five months.

Trump returned to the White House after defeating Kamala Harris in last November’s election. He promised to lead in a new way, different from Joe Biden, and he quickly jumped into action, making many changes — some of them quite controversial.

One of the most talked-about changes has been his “Big Beautiful Bill,” which led to a major public argument with Elon Musk. Musk called the bill a disaster, and the two have been at odds ever since.

Another hot topic has been immigration. Trump’s tough stance has caused a lot of public backlash, especially in Los Angeles, where there have been large protests following raids by immigration authorities. These protests have led to growing tension between police and the public.

Trump has said his actions are aimed at “Making America Great Again,” but many Americans clearly don’t agree with how he’s been doing things since returning to office.

A recent poll by Quinnipiac University, published on June 11, shows that only 38% of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing, while 54% do not. This gives us a clear sign that he’s losing support overall.

When you break it down by topic, the numbers are just as concerning for Trump.

On the economy, he scored low, with only 38% of people approving of how he’s handling trade and financial matters. That’s usually a key area for any president, so this is a bad sign for him.

On immigration — a topic where he used to be strong — there’s been a noticeable drop in support. Only 43% of people like how he’s dealing with immigration, while 54% are unhappy with it.

As for foreign policy, especially regarding the war between Ukraine and Russia, Trump isn’t winning much approval there either. Just 34% support how he’s handling it. Polling expert Tim Malloy explained that Americans are clearly unhappy with how Trump is dealing with the long-running conflict.

People were also asked about Elon Musk’s role in the government. While Musk still has strong support among Republicans, especially for his connection to the cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE), he’s not as popular as he once was, and the public disagreement with Trump didn’t help.

Overall, Trump’s approval ratings are quite low right now. Some political experts believe his administration might not last if things continue this way. James Carville, a Democratic strategist, even said that the Democrats don’t have to do much — just sit back and let the situation play out.

Whatever happens next, it’s clear that Trump’s presidency continues to be full of drama and strong reactions, both from supporters and critics.
