ICE agent’s chilling threat to Minnesota civilian if they raised their voice caught on camera

A video showing a US citizen speaking with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent has been spreading rapidly online after the agent was heard making a serious and unsettling threat during their conversation. The clip has added to growing public anger over the conduct of federal agents operating in Minnesota.

Federal immigration agents have been at the centre of controversy in the state for weeks after being deployed as part of an immigration crackdown ordered by Donald Trump. Their presence has led to repeated confrontations with residents and protesters, and several incidents have already made national headlines.

The situation escalated further after the killing of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse and US citizen, who was shot dead in Minneapolis during one of these operations. He became the second civilian to die in January alone during encounters involving federal agents.

After Pretti’s death, the Department of Homeland Security claimed he was carrying a semi-automatic handgun with extra ammunition and said he violently resisted officers when they tried to disarm him. Trump later referred to him as a “gunman” on social media. However, videos of the incident and accounts from witnesses appear to tell a different story, showing Pretti holding a mobile phone rather than a weapon at the time he was shot.

Pretti’s killing came just weeks after another fatal incident involving federal agents. Renee Good, a mother of three, was shot and killed while driving away from ICE officers. Her death sparked protests across the country, and tensions rose even higher after Pretti was reportedly shot multiple times within seconds while already on the ground.

Against this backdrop, the newly viral video has struck a nerve. In the short clip, an ICE agent is seen speaking to a civilian and warning him, “If you raise your voice, I’ll erase your voice.” The citizen, clearly shocked, repeats the threat back to him to confirm what he heard. The agent then responds calmly, confirming the statement. Many viewers have described the language as intimidating and frightening, especially coming from a federal officer.

Public reaction has been sharply divided. Some people support the heavy enforcement measures, while others believe the agents’ actions show a dangerous abuse of power. Protests against ICE operations in Minnesota have continued, with demonstrators calling for accountability and an end to what they see as aggressive and fear-driven policing.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz described Pretti’s death as horrific and said the current approach to enforcement appears designed to provoke fear and conflict rather than ensure public safety. He warned that the situation risks turning serious governance into spectacle, driven by shock and confrontation.

As investigations continue, the deaths of Pretti and Good, along with the threatening remarks captured on video, have intensified national debate over immigration enforcement, police conduct, and the human cost of aggressive federal operations.
