James Carville Issues Chilling Warning to America About Donald Trump’s Dangerous 2025 Election Plan

Political strategist James Carville thinks former President Donald Trump might take extreme steps to stay in power, especially as the midterm elections get closer and the chances of Republicans losing grow.

Carville said he wouldn’t be shocked if Trump even tried to stop the elections from happening altogether, just to keep Democrats from taking control of Congress.

During an interview on The Jim Acosta Show, Carville responded to a question about whether he believed Trump and his close advisor, Stephen Miller, might try to interfere with voting. He said yes, he absolutely believed they might.

Carville explained that Trump could start to panic if he sees signs that Republicans are about to lose—like poor results in places such as Virginia and New Jersey, or more Republican officials deciding not to run again. According to Carville, once Trump sees those warning signs, he could act out in unpredictable and dangerous ways.

Jim Acosta pointed out that Trump likely fears a Democratic-controlled Congress because it could lead to impeachment. Carville agreed and said he wouldn’t be surprised by anything Trump tries, including cancelling the election completely.

He described Trump as someone who thinks very differently from most politicians, someone who doesn’t care about rules or traditions. Carville explained that people like himself and journalists like Acosta usually think about elections in normal ways—how to influence or cover them. But Trump, he warned, thinks far outside the norm and is capable of doing things that others wouldn’t even consider.

Carville, who played a key role in getting Bill Clinton elected president in 1992, has been a consistent critic of Trump. He previously predicted that Kamala Harris would beat Trump in the last election, though he admitted at the time that he was very nervous about the outcome. Since then, he’s spoken out about many of Trump’s decisions, like his international trade policies and accepting a costly plane from Qatar.

Carville said we shouldn’t assume elections will always happen like they used to. He said Trump is a “whole new thing,” and people should take seriously the possibility that Trump might try to cling to power by breaking the rules.

Acosta was clearly unsettled by what Carville was saying but agreed that Trump has already shown he’s willing to try to undermine elections. They both referred to how Trump falsely claimed the 2020 election was stolen and launched lawsuits based on lies.

Carville ended by saying people often come up to him and say they’re scared—and he tells them they’re right to be. In his view, Trump’s actions have changed the game, and it would be a mistake to assume everything will play out the way it always has.
