JD Vance makes scathing remark after Kamala Harris leaked surprising comments Trump made to her in private

JD Vance has been openly critical of Kamala Harris, and in a recent interview he took his criticism even further. His comments came after Harris released her memoir, *107 Days*, which reflects on her 2024 presidential campaign and includes personal anecdotes about her encounters with Donald Trump. In the book, Harris described Vance as “juvenile” and a “shapeshifter,” painting him as a political opportunist who changes positions to suit the moment. When Fox News host Laura Ingraham asked Vance about Harris’ remarks, he not only brushed them off but also launched into a detailed attack on her political credibility.
Vance argued that Harris’ explanation for why her campaign struggled was dishonest. She had suggested that her campaign didn’t have enough time to gain momentum, but Vance flipped that on its head, saying the real problem was that her campaign dragged on too long.
He claimed that the more people listened to Harris, the less they liked her. In his view, every new speech or appearance she made caused her polling numbers to slide further downward. Vance even went so far as to say that if she had campaigned longer, Trump’s victory margin would have been even larger than it was. Trump ultimately secured 312 electoral votes to Harris’ 226, a clear win that Vance described as proof that voters had rejected her message.
He emphasized that Harris’ problem wasn’t just about losing votes—it was about her inability to communicate ideas with any real substance. He compared her unfavorably to former Democratic presidents like Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, both of whom, he said, had clear viewpoints and were able to make strong arguments even if Republicans disagreed with them.
By contrast, Vance said that listening to Harris made him feel less informed, because she never seemed to express firm beliefs or a coherent vision. He claimed she lacked the ability to connect with the American public and that until she developed real viewpoints and learned to articulate them, she would continue to face the same criticism.
His attack came in response to new attention Harris was receiving from her book, which also revealed moments of unexpected interaction with Trump. Harris wrote about how Trump’s tone changed after he survived a second assassination attempt. In public, he continued to insult her, but privately, she claimed he told her he would try to ease off and “tone it down.
Harris recalled him admitting that it would be harder for him to attack her after the attempt on his life, and she even mentioned that Trump told her his daughter Ivanka was a big fan of hers. Despite these remarks, Harris insisted she never took him seriously. She described Trump as a con man who knows how to say the right things in the moment but never means them.
The back-and-forth between Vance and Harris highlights the ongoing animosity between the two. Although they rarely interacted directly during the 2024 election, they often brought each other up in speeches and media appearances, framing one another as symbols of everything they opposed.
Harris has painted Vance as an opportunistic politician who shifts positions to climb higher in the political world, while Vance has consistently argued that Harris is a weak communicator who lacks the qualities needed to be a leader.
The contrast in how they speak about one another reflects larger divides in American politics. Harris presents herself as someone exposing Trump and his allies for dishonesty and manipulation, while Vance positions himself as cutting through what he sees as empty rhetoric, arguing that Democrats like Harris have no real substance behind their words. Their feud, which continues even after the election, shows how political rivalries extend beyond the campaign trail, becoming personal and long-lasting.
