Jeffrey Epstein’s defence lawyer responds to Elon Musk’s bombshell claim Trump is named in files

Elon Musk made some shocking claims about Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein on social media yesterday, and things have escalated quickly since then.

It all started as a minor disagreement over policy between Musk and Trump. But on June 5, Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter) accusing Trump of stopping the release of certain files from the Epstein case. Musk claimed this was because Trump’s name is in those files.

He wrote: “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”

He followed up with another message: “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”

It’s important to understand that just because Trump’s name may appear in these files, it doesn’t necessarily mean he did anything illegal.

As of now, Trump hasn’t responded to the accusations. However, David Schoen, a lawyer who used to represent Jeffrey Epstein, has spoken out. Schoen said he never saw any damaging information about Trump when he was working on Epstein’s legal defense. He explained that Epstein had asked for his help months before he died and that he became Epstein’s lawyer nine days before Epstein was found dead in jail.

Schoen said, “I can say with complete certainty that Epstein had no information that could hurt Trump. I even asked him directly.”

Schoen, who also helped defend Trump during his second impeachment trial, has previously said he doesn’t believe Epstein died by suicide. In 2020, he told Fox News that Epstein was in good spirits and that they were planning their next steps when he died.

Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in July 2019 for sex trafficking minors in Florida and New York. He had already been convicted in 2008 for similar crimes, which led to a short jail sentence as part of a plea deal. Epstein was found dead in his jail cell in August 2019, and the official cause of death was suicide.

The term “Epstein files” refers to court records from Epstein’s cases. These documents supposedly contain the names of powerful individuals and could reveal details about underage girls being trafficked. Some people believe the full set of files hasn’t been released because it could damage influential figures.

Trump had once promised to make all of the Epstein documents public if he were re-elected. Although some files were released earlier this year, many people felt they didn’t contain the explosive information they were expecting.

A photo from 2000 also resurfaced showing Donald Trump and his wife Melania at an event with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, who was later jailed for her role in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.
