White House Communications Director Steven Cheung told everyone to make sure they say his name clearly — President Donald J. Trump. He said this after criticizing former President Barack Obama for a statement Obama made about the peace deal between Israel and Hamas that Trump helped secure this week.
If you read Obama’s post, you’d never guess Trump had anything to do with the agreement. Obama wrote that everyone should be “encouraged and relieved that an end to the conflict is within sight,” but he didn’t mention Trump once.
So, why can’t the leader of the Democratic Party bring himself to recognize Trump’s achievement? Maybe he’s jealous that Trump succeeded where others failed.
Obama isn’t the only one staying quiet. New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, a far-left socialist known for attacking Trump and supporting the “Free Palestine” movement, also isn’t thrilled about this ceasefire. He’s the same guy who went on TV and refused to criticize the phrase “Globalize the Intifada.” Now, with a peace deal on the table and aid trucks soon heading into Gaza because of a prisoner swap, his message suddenly doesn’t seem so urgent.
Mamdani will probably go back to talking about “freezing rent,” since he’s never understood capitalism anyway. Thanks to Trump, Arab countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia are realizing it’s better to treat Israel as a business partner rather than an enemy. Maybe trade will finally win out over extremism.
Senator Bernie Sanders is another one refusing to give Trump any credit. He once called Israel guilty of genocide, so you’d think he’d celebrate an end to the fighting. But instead, on his podcast, he called Trump a “demagogue” and accused him of exploiting minorities.
The Nobel Peace Prize committee didn’t give Trump an award this time, but the woman who won it — Venezuelan activist María Corina Machado — actually thanked Trump and dedicated her award to him. Even she could show respect.
Congressman Dan Goldman tried to downplay Trump’s success on CNN. He claimed the deal only happened because countries like Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt changed their stance, not because of Trump. But even the CNN anchor pointed out that Trump was the one who shifted that dynamic. Goldman stumbled over his words trying not to admit it.
Maybe Democrats just can’t handle the fact that Trump’s approach to foreign policy — standing firmly with Israel and rejecting moral gray areas — actually worked. They should try a little humility and maybe see a therapist.
Meanwhile, pop star Bad Bunny showed up at a Yankees game and didn’t stand during “God Bless America” when a veteran was being honored. That’s disappointing, especially since he’s set to perform at the next Super Bowl halftime show. If you’re going to perform for America, at least stand up for the people who served it.
Actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s new movie, One Battle After Another, has bombed at the box office. Critics say it’s another overly political “woke” film. It seems like Leo’s biggest struggle these days is avoiding another cheeseburger.
Then there’s Nicole Kidman, who gave a strange interview after her divorce, talking about life, death, sex, and “what is truth.” Honestly, she just sounded confused and out of touch.
Sarah Jessica Parker showed up at the New York City Ballet Gala dressed like a dinosaur, while her husband, Matthew Broderick, stood by looking normal.
And finally, former congresswoman Katie Porter — who wants to run for California governor — is back in the headlines. Her ex-husband once accused her of dumping boiling potatoes on him, and now she’s gone viral for yelling at a journalist and swearing at a staffer during a video call. Maybe it’s time for her to step away from politics altogether.
