Donald Trump has stirred up more controversy by making strange claims about the Jeffrey Epstein case. He’s now saying the rumored “Epstein client list” was completely made up by people like Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and others from previous Democratic administrations. According to Trump, the whole thing is just another political smear campaign, like the Russia investigation or the Steele dossier.
This all comes after Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who’s been tied to Trump for years, said there was never any actual “client list” — just a general case file. That didn’t sit well with many of Trump’s own supporters, who were expecting more transparency. Even House Speaker Mike Johnson broke ranks and publicly called for all Epstein-related documents to be made public.
Ever since Jeffrey Epstein died in jail in 2019 and Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted in 2021, conspiracy theories have spread suggesting that Epstein had a secret list of powerful people involved in his crimes. While the Justice Department recently said such a list doesn’t exist and won’t be releasing any new files, many people remain skeptical.
Trump, on his social media platform Truth Social, dismissed the whole case as unimportant, saying it’s “boring” and only being kept alive by “bad people” and “fake news.” He claimed any documents that do exist were created by his political enemies and shouldn’t be trusted. When a reporter asked if his name came up in any of the files, Trump brushed it off and said Bondi only gave a quick briefing, but nothing like that was ever mentioned.
He repeatedly tried to downplay the whole issue, questioning why anyone even cares about Epstein now. “He’s been dead a long time. He was never a big factor,” Trump said. He then repeated his argument that all the credible information has already been released, and anything more would be up to Bondi to decide.
These comments caused a stir online, especially on platforms like Reddit. Many users questioned why Trump would call the case “boring” if there’s nothing to hide. Some suggested that if the files really are meaningless, they should just be released to end the speculation. Others said Trump seemed to be trying to discredit the files ahead of time in case they do name powerful people — possibly even himself.
Some also pointed out the irony: by denying the existence of something many believe never existed in the first place, Trump may have only made people more suspicious.
