People left in shock after seeing all details of Donald Trump’s new $499 golden smartphone

People are understandably full of questions after seeing the surprising details about Donald Trump’s new \$499 golden smartphone. Forget the usual iPhone vs Android debate — Trump has entered the smartphone market with his own branded phone.

This flashy phone, called the T1 Mobile, is covered in gold and decorated with the American flag. It was revealed on June 16 by Donald Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, who announced that the Trump Organization is launching a new mobile phone and network service to mark ten years since Trump decided to run for president.

The family is hoping to use their name to build a business in the mobile world. Their new phone plan, called “The 47 Plan,” offers unlimited calls, texts, and data, and you don’t need to pass a credit check to sign up. They claim it’s a patriotic, all-American phone system, although many people are finding it bizarre — especially given the family’s history of selling things like Trump-branded Bibles and steaks.

The T1 Mobile phone, which costs \$499 (about £368), quickly went viral after it was announced. But the response online hasn’t been great. One person on Instagram asked, “How is this even legal?” Another said, “No matter your political side, this is just weird.” Others wondered if a former president should really be selling phones to the public at all. One comment read, “America feels like an episode of Black Mirror.”

On Reddit, people were even more suspicious. Someone suggested the phone might be used to gather personal data for Trump’s benefit. Another said they’d love to read the terms and conditions, hinting at possible privacy concerns.

The Trump Organization claims the phone is proudly designed and built in the United States. But experts don’t think that’s realistic. According to the BBC, it would be almost impossible to make such a phone entirely in the US. Professor Tinglong Dai said they don’t even seem to have a working prototype, making the Trump family’s promise to deliver the phones by August seem doubtful. So far, the only available images of the phone look like AI-generated mixes of existing Apple and Android devices.

Many people online remain skeptical about the whole idea, and reactions continue to be mixed.
