Staggering new Trump approval ratings show what the US really thinks of him with shock results from one state

Two different polls have shown that public opinion about Donald Trump has changed since April. His approval ratings have dropped, and some of the results have surprised many, especially in a state that usually supports him.

Earlier this month, a survey was done five months after Trump returned to the White House. The numbers weren’t good. Before the poll, Trump was already facing heavy criticism for some of his recent decisions, like his new immigration bill and sending the National Guard to handle protests in Los Angeles.

A recent Emerson College Poll found that 45 percent of voters now approve of Trump as president, while 46 percent disapprove. The remaining 9 percent aren’t sure how they feel. That’s a drop from January, when his approval rating was at 49 percent.

At the same time, 53 percent of people in the survey believe the country is heading in the wrong direction. Only 48 percent think the opposite. Looking ahead to the midterm elections, Democrats seem to have a small lead over Republicans, especially among independent voters. However, many independents still haven’t made up their minds, so things could change.

A second poll from the University of Texas and the Texas Politics Project also showed a decline in Trump’s approval. In Texas, 44 percent now approve of him, while 51 percent disapprove. This is especially important because Texas is normally a strong Republican state.

In the Texas poll, 51 percent of people disapproved of Trump’s handling of the economy, and only 39 percent approved. On the topic of inflation and rising prices, 52 percent were unhappy, and only 34 percent approved. Most of the criticism came from Democrats, but even among Republicans in Texas, his support dropped slightly—from 89 percent in April to 87 percent now.

The poll was done before Trump stepped in to help end the recent conflict between Iran and Israel. He helped arrange a ceasefire between the two nations just this week. A few days before that, Trump ordered air strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites. In response, Iran launched its own air strike on a U.S. base in Qatar and reportedly targeted another one in Iraq.

Speaking at a NATO summit, Trump said Iran warned them in advance about the attack. He joked that they even asked if 1 o’clock was a good time to strike. Trump said everyone at the base was evacuated except for those operating the defense systems. According to him, all 14 missiles fired at the base in Qatar were shot down, which he described as incredible. He said it was like “shooting a bullet with a bullet,” and praised the defense team for their accuracy.
