Stephen King Warns of the Terrifying ‘Bad Ending’ to Trump’s Presidency – “That is a Dangerous Thing

Stephen King, the famous horror writer and a long-time critic of Donald Trump, has once again spoken out against the 79-year-old former president. In a recent interview, King compared Trump’s time in office to a horror story and warned that the future could hold a very dark ending if Trump ever found his way back to power.
King, now 77 years old, didn’t hold back during his conversation with MSNBC’s Ali Velshi. He flatly called Trump an “idiot,” saying the idea of Trump ever getting a third term would be the worst nightmare. “He doesn’t read, he doesn’t think,” King said, stressing that Trump acts as though he can never be wrong. To King, that belief alone makes him dangerous. He stopped short of calling Trump “crazy,” but made it clear that he sees him as a serious threat.
Velshi then reminded King of something he once said in an earlier interview with The Guardian. Back then, King was asked what kind of ending he would give to Trump’s presidency if it were a novel. King said the “good ending” would be impeachment. But when asked what a bad ending would look like, King replied that it would be Trump managing to secure a third term and taking full control of the country. “It’s a horror story either way,” King added. “Trump is a horror story, isn’t he?”
What makes King uneasy is Trump’s repeated hints about running for office again in 2028, even though the Constitution clearly says no president can serve more than two terms. Trump has even sold merchandise suggesting he wants a third term, something King views as both unconstitutional and alarming.
King has often used social media to share his feelings about Trump. Not long ago, he reposted a tweet comparing Trump’s presidency to being “tied to a chair and forced to watch a toddler play with a loaded gun.” He has also accused Trump of using distractions to manipulate the public. During Labor Day weekend, when strange rumors spread that Trump might have died, King suggested Trump himself could have started the gossip just to grab attention. “Trump is a hell of a showman,” King tweeted. “He knows how to get people talking. He probably spread that rumor himself.”
King’s harsh criticism of Trump goes back years. In 2020, after watching Trump lead the nation for four years, King called him “the world’s dumbest leader.” He tweeted that it was hard to believe any country had ever had such a clueless leader, describing Trump as someone who couldn’t spell, couldn’t read, and had never had an original thought in his life. He compared Trump’s brain to a radio blasting static between stations—loud but empty.
Trump, for his part, has never bothered responding to King’s insults. Instead, he focuses on the things he enjoys most: signing controversial executive orders, redecorating the White House, making inappropriate remarks about women, keeping the Epstein files buried, and of course, spending plenty of time on the golf course.
