The Godfather Presidency’: Donald Trump Facing Accusations He Is Running White House ‘Like a Mob Boss’

Donald Trump is being accused of running the White House the way a mob boss might run a criminal empire  doing whatever it takes to get his way, even if that means using fear, intimidation, or loyalty as weapons. That’s what some critics are saying about how he operates, especially during his presidency.

Representative Jamie Raskin has spoken out about what he sees happening behind the scenes. He says many lawmakers, especially new Republican members of Congress, are too scared to stand up to Trump or the people who support him, including wealthy and powerful donors.

One example he gave was Elon Musk, who supposedly spent millions of dollars to help Trump beat Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

According to Raskin, if you’re a new politician and someone like Musk threatens to spend millions to remove you from office, you’ll fall in line and stop fighting back. That kind of pressure makes politicians act like obedient followers  like sheep instead of standing up for what they believe.

Trump is being compared to a mafia boss not just because of how he controls people, but also because of his background. He grew up in the tough world of New York City real estate, where power and money often walked hand-in-hand.

His father, Fred Trump, was part of that world and taught Donald how things worked how to use money and connections to get what you want. Trump himself once bragged during a Republican debate that he had donated to many politicians, saying, “When I need something from them… they are there for me.”

Critics say Trump has transformed the Republican Party, making loyalty to him more important than loyalty to the country or to the party’s traditional values. If you’re not with Trump, you’re considered an outsider. His supporters treat him like a larger-than-life figure  a hero  while his critics worry about how much influence he still has, especially with all the legal and political fights he’s been involved in. They fear his way of doing things, which they call a “mob mentality,” will continue to guide his decisions if he’s back in power.

Trump has a huge ego, and he even once said he wants his face on Mount Rushmore, the famous monument that honors four great American presidents. During his first term, he brought up the idea with South Dakota’s governor, Kristi Noem, who later gave him a small sculpture of Mount Rushmore with his face added to it as a gift.

But the family of the original artist behind Mount Rushmore and experts on the monument quickly shut that idea down. They said the monument is meant to represent the founding ideals of America not to honor one person’s ego. And besides, adding another face could seriously damage the mountain, which is already showing cracks.

Even though it seems unlikely Trump will ever see his face carved into stone, his critics believe he’ll still try to push his way forward with the same “mob boss” attitude  whether it’s about monuments, politics, or anything else he sets his sights on.
