The Truth Behind Donald Trump and Marla Maples’ Divorce—And Why It Wasn’t as ‘Horrific’ as You Think

Donald Trump and Marla Maples were married for four years before they decided to end their relationship. Their divorce was calm and respectful, and there didn’t seem to be any major drama between them. Even years later, Marla defended Trump when people started spreading rumors, calling those stories completely false.

Marla and Donald got married in 1993 and had a daughter together named Tiffany Trump. But by 1999, they realized their relationship wasn’t working anymore and decided to split up. Marla later said the main reason for the divorce was that she and Donald saw the world very differently. They just didn’t share the same values or goals.

She also admitted that living in Trump’s world of wealth and fame never really suited her. In an interview with People magazine, she said she often felt like she was pretending to be someone she wasn’t, just to fit into his high-profile lifestyle. It felt like she was playing a role, not living her truth.

When they divorced, Marla received $2 million as part of the prenuptial agreement she had signed. At the time, there were stories in the media claiming she wasn’t happy with that amount and that she was saying negative things about Trump. Some articles even made it seem like there was serious tension between them.

But Marla came forward to set the record straight. She called those stories “horrific lies” and said that she had moved on and forgiven everything that happened in the past. She explained that being married is hard, especially when your relationship is always under public scrutiny.

Years later, during Trump’s 2024 campaign for president, Marla publicly supported him again. She used her social media to say people were once more spreading lies about him, and she wanted the truth to be known.

Their story started while Trump was still married to his first wife, Ivana. Marla didn’t want to get involved at first because she knew he was already married. But eventually, they began a relationship while he was still married to Ivana. After Donald’s divorce from Ivana, he and Marla officially became a couple.

Their relationship wasn’t always smooth. They broke up and got back together several times before they finally got engaged. Marla also once shared that they didn’t agree on when or whether to have children. When she found out she was pregnant with Tiffany, she remembered asking Trump, “What are we going to do about this?” That moment marked a turning point in their relationship.

Eventually, they both agreed to go their separate ways and finalized their divorce on June 8, 1999. By that time, Trump had already met Melania at a party in New York in 1998. He married Melania on January 22, 2005, and they later had a son together named Barron Trump in 2006.
