Trump announces capture of ‘top terrorist’ responsible for Abbey Gate bombing in address to Congress

US President Donald Trump announced the capture of the terrorist responsible for the Abbey Gate bombing during his speech to Congress.
On March 4, Trump addressed a joint session of Congress, stating that the U.S. is “standing strong against radical Islamic terrorism.” He confirmed the arrest of the “top monster” behind the suicide bombing at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, which killed 13 American service members and many others during the Afghanistan evacuation three and a half years ago.
Calling the withdrawal from Afghanistan “the most embarrassing moment in American history,” Trump said he was “pleased to announce” that the terrorist had been captured. He did not reveal the person’s name but stated, “And he is right now on his way here to face the swift sword of American justice.”
Trump thanked the government of Pakistan for helping with the arrest and acknowledged the families of the 13 fallen service members. He said he had gotten to know most of the families and recently spoke to them in a phone call where “they did nothing but cry with happiness.” He described the bombing as an act of “gross incompetence” and claimed it influenced Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions.
FBI Director Kash Patel later confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he was present at Dulles Airfield as the terrorist was brought to the U.S. He warned that those responsible for harming Americans would be hunted down and brought to justice.
