Trump family roasted for the ‘most ridiculous grift’ yet

People online are making fun of Donald Trump’s family after their latest business idea was announced: a new cell phone company called “Trump Mobile.”

On Monday, Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s son, went on Fox Business and said the Trump Organization is launching this new phone service. It will start at \$47.45 per month, a number that seems to play off Trump being both the 45th and now 47th U.S. president.

Eric tried to connect this to other Trump business moves. He said they created the Truth Social app to give conservatives a voice because they felt silenced during politics. Then they got involved with cryptocurrency to push back against banks that they say were shutting down conservative accounts. Eric claimed he’s been “the most canceled person” in U.S. history.

Now, they say they want to “revolutionize” the cell phone world with Trump Mobile. Eric claimed the service will be better, safer, and offer more features. He also said that everything they’re doing is made in the U.S.

As soon as this was shared online, social media users started mocking it. One person wrote that it was a leading example of a ridiculous money grab this summer and couldn’t believe it was real.

Critics like Ron Filipkowski took aim at Fox Business, saying they were basically airing a free commercial for the Trumps. Others, like political commentator Fred Wellman, said the Trumps never stop trying to make money off their supporters. Former Obama aide Tommy Vietor also slammed the family, calling it more proof of their endless greed and dishonesty.

In addition to the phone plan, the Trumps are selling a special gold-colored smartphone called the “T1 Phone,” which will cost \$499, plus a \$100 deposit. It’s expected to be available in August.

This is just the latest in a long line of Trump-related business projects. Since Trump returned to office, his family has announced new deals and raised concerns about whether their businesses are too closely tied to his political role. These include real estate and golf deals overseas, like a new golf course in Qatar and a \$1.5 billion project in Vietnam — though that deal started before Trump was elected.

Eric Trump said in a press release that Americans deserve a phone service that’s affordable, reflects their values, and is dependable.

Recently, Trump also attacked Apple for making most of its iPhones in India. He said if they don’t start building them in the U.S., he’ll try to hit them with a 25% tax.
