Trump issues savage response to ‘off the rails’ Elon Musk after he announced new political party

Donald Trump has taken a strong public jab at Elon Musk, criticizing him for his recent actions and calling him a “train wreck.” The clash comes after Musk announced plans to launch a new political party called the “America Party,” which he hopes will challenge the traditional two-party system in the U.S.
Until recently, Musk and Trump appeared to be on friendly terms, with Musk even holding a short-term role in Trump’s administration earlier this year as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). That role stirred controversy due to deep cuts in federal jobs, and things have only gotten more tense since Musk’s time in office ended.
After leaving his post, Musk began criticizing Trump on social media, especially targeting a major piece of legislation that Trump had promoted — a large congressional spending bill. Musk called it a “disgusting abomination” that would greatly increase the federal deficit and hurt ordinary Americans. He also made serious accusations in now-deleted tweets, claiming Trump was linked to the Jeffrey Epstein case — though no evidence has been shared.
Things escalated further when Musk announced on July 5 that he was launching a third party, saying the two existing political parties — Democrats and Republicans — were part of a “uniparty” system that no longer served the people. So far, it’s unclear whether Musk’s new party has been officially registered.
Trump responded the next day on his platform, Truth Social, saying Musk had lost his way and was now causing confusion and chaos. He argued that third parties don’t work in the U.S. and only lead to more political mess. Trump went on to defend his spending bill, saying it was the biggest of its kind in American history and attacked Musk for opposing it, claiming Musk was only upset because the bill removed rules that pushed for electric vehicle use.
Trump insisted Americans should have the freedom to drive what they want and claimed Musk had previously agreed with this. He also questioned Musk’s connections at NASA, suggesting it was inappropriate for someone closely tied to Musk’s business to run the agency.
In short, what once seemed like a strong alliance between two powerful figures has turned into a very public and personal political feud. Musk now appears to be stepping onto the national stage not just as a tech billionaire, but as a political challenger — and Trump isn’t holding back in trying to stop him.
