Truth about Melania Trump’s visa has people calling the president a ‘hypocrite’ over ‘vicious immigrant campaign’

A Democratic lawmaker has harshly criticized Melania Trump over the way she got her visa to live in the United States, and it’s causing people to call out former President Donald Trump for being hypocritical about immigration.
Earlier this week, questions were raised online about how Melania got her visa. People began comparing it to the way Trump’s administration treated other immigrants, especially under his strict immigration policies.
Representative Jasmine Crockett from Texas brought this up during a congressional hearing on June 25. She questioned whether Melania received special treatment, especially when the same government has aggressively taken away visas from legal immigrants and pushed for mass deportations.
Crockett directly confronted Republicans on the Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement Subcommittee. She asked them why they weren’t as interested in immigration “integrity” when it came to Trump’s own family.
Melania came to the U.S. using what’s known as an EB-1 visa, often nicknamed the “Einstein visa.” This type of visa is usually given to people with very high achievements like Nobel Prize winners, Olympic athletes, or people who are leaders in their field.
Crockett pointed out that Melania, who was working as a model, didn’t seem to meet these high standards. She said Melania wasn’t on the level of supermodels like Tyra Banks or Naomi Campbell, and questioned how she qualified for such a visa.
Crockett made a biting remark saying, “It doesn’t take an Einstein to see the math isn’t adding up,” suggesting that Melania getting this visa just didn’t make sense.
Melania later became a U.S. citizen in July 2006, but Crockett’s comments have sparked a lot of reactions online.
Many people on social media agreed with her and criticized Trump for being tough on immigrants while his own wife may have gotten special treatment.
Some commenters said Trump’s actions were hypocritical. One person wrote that it’s “pretty ironic” Trump built a harsh anti-immigrant message while both his first and third wives were immigrants. Another joked that if a Democratic candidate had a similar immigration story, there would be a major backlash.
Others sarcastically suggested that Melania should be treated the same way undocumented immigrants often are, with one person saying, “Send her to Guantanamo Bay,” and another joking about seeing ICE agents arresting her outside her favorite nail salon — pointing out how unfairly the system can treat people depending on who they are married to or how wealthy they are.
