JD Vance is currently serving as Vice President, but there’s growing speculation that he could end up replacing Donald Trump as president by the end of 2025. While this idea might seem far-fetched to some, a few serious concerns have fueled these theories.
Trump began his second term in January, and it’s already been full of controversy. He’s been involved in everything from public fights with Elon Musk and questionable decisions around his border policy, to troubling connections with Jeffrey Epstein — the disgraced financier with a long history of abuse allegations. What’s worrying critics now is that Trump’s administration has only released some of the Epstein-related documents, instead of making everything public.
In an attempt to push back against criticism, Trump recently made a post on Truth Social asking the Justice Department to release all grand jury testimony about Epstein, as long as the court approves. But even then, he took a jab at his critics, calling them “radical left lunatics” who would never be satisfied no matter what he did.
Still, Trump’s links to Epstein have become a major issue — and some believe they could be what ends his presidency early. Political commentators, including TikToker Josh Greene, have speculated that JD Vance might step in if Trump steps down or is forced out. Greene made it clear that this is just speculation, but pointed to two key reasons behind the theory.
First, Greene says Trump’s approval ratings are sinking. While he still has support within his base, the general public’s opinion of him is not as strong. Second, he brought up Trump’s health issues. Trump was recently diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a condition that affects blood flow in the legs. According to the Cleveland Clinic, this condition can cause long-term problems, especially in older adults — and Trump isn’t exactly young.
Greene also noted that JD Vance is not connected to the Epstein scandal, which could make him a cleaner and more acceptable option if Trump has to go.
That said, not everyone is thrilled about the idea of Vance taking over. Many people online have voiced concern, saying Vance could actually be worse than Trump. One person commented, “He’s just as bad,” while another warned that Vance could be “a danger to the USA.”
Others were quick to point out that Trump is unlikely to ever resign. His personality and ego just don’t suggest he’d step aside willingly. As one commenter put it, “There’s absolutely zero chance Trump would ever resign,” while another added, “His ego is too big.”
So while the idea of JD Vance becoming president before the end of Trump’s second term remains pure speculation for now, the combination of Trump’s controversial history, declining popularity, and health problems has led some people to believe a change at the top could actually happen.
