JD Vance, the U.S. Vice President, recently let slip what sounds like a new and unsettling plan from Donald Trump during an interview with conservative host Charlie Kirk, according to a report from The Daily Beast.
While talking on The Charlie Kirk Show, Vance said that the Trump administration is “retraining” government agencies so they can go after what he described as “left-wing political violence.” He claimed that the government needs to shift its focus toward left-leaning groups, saying they are the real threat.
“We have to train the government’s investigators and law enforcement to focus on left-wing violence,” Vance said. “We’re retraining the whole government to do that. We’re already doing it.”
He didn’t explain how exactly this plan is being carried out, but he did repeat a few well-known conspiracy theories, including the idea that anti-Trump protests are made up of “paid protestors.” At one point, he even asked, “If a brick gets thrown through a government building’s window, who bought the brick?”
Vance, who is 41, has also publicly backed Trump’s controversial move from January 2025 to pardon the rioters who took part in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Those rioters tried to stop Congress from confirming Joe Biden’s election win by breaking windows and storming the building.
Later this month, on October 29, Vance is set to appear at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. He’s expected to fill in for Charlie Kirk and take questions from college students, alongside Kirk’s late wife, Erika Kirk, according to Politico.
