‘We’ll make you disappear’: Dem lawmaker demands answers on disturbing FBI tip about Donald Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump spoke to reporters at the White House in Washington, D.C., on February 20, 2026. He was responding to a decision by the Supreme Court of the United States that said he had gone beyond his legal authority when he put tariffs in place. The photo of the event was taken by Elizabeth Frantz for Reuters.
At the same time, Representative Melanie Stansbury, a Democrat from New Mexico, is calling for more information about a tip the FBI received in 2016. The tip includes serious claims about the alleged sexual abuse of a minor involving Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Stansbury questioned why more people are not talking about this FBI complaint, which was included in documents related to Epstein that were made public last month by the Justice Department. She shared her concerns in a post on the social media platform X.
According to the FBI record, a lawyer contacted the agency on behalf of a client identified only as “Jane Doe,” a name often used in court to protect someone’s identity. The lawyer claimed that when the girl was 13 years old, she was persuaded to travel across state lines to New York. The lawyer said she was told she would have a chance to start a modeling career, but instead was taken to parties hosted by Epstein. The tip alleges that Trump was also present at these gatherings. During these events, the girl was reportedly pressured to perform sexual acts involving both men.
The lawyer told the FBI that there were four such parties. With each one, the alleged behavior became more explicit. The most serious claim in the tip says that during the fourth party, the girl was raped by both Trump and Epstein and then threatened so she would not report what happened. According to the FBI’s written summary of the tip, the girl was allegedly warned that she would be harmed or made to “disappear” if she spoke out.
The FBI document also states that the lawyer filed a lawsuit on behalf of the client. The case had progressed to the point where court summons were issued and a scheduling conference was set for September 2, 2016. However, at the time the FBI wrote up the report, the legal complaint had not yet been formally delivered to either Epstein or Trump. The report mentions that the FBI created a case number in its internal system related to the allegation.
As a member of the House Oversight Committee, which has been involved in looking into Epstein and anyone who may have worked with him, Stansbury is in a position to push for further action. For example, Congress has the power to issue subpoenas, which can require people to testify under oath or provide documents.
