Who’s betraying Trump? Rumors suggest it could be someone close to him — and you won’t believe who it is

There’s growing speculation and drama unfolding around Donald Trump and his vice president, JD Vance. Over the weekend, a report from the Daily Mail stirred things up by claiming that Vance secretly flew out to Montana last month to meet with media mogul Rupert Murdoch at his private ranch.

Also reportedly present were Murdoch’s son, Lachlan Murdoch, who helps run their media empire, and several top executives from Fox News. No one knows exactly what they discussed during that meeting, but it didn’t last long. Still, the timing and secrecy have raised eyebrows, especially since it happened just before Trump filed a massive lawsuit against Murdoch.

Trump is suing Murdoch and *The Wall Street Journal* for at least \$10 billion. He’s furious about a recent article the Journal published, which accused him of sending a crude birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein back in 2003. According to the story, the letter included a message written in the shape of a naked woman’s body and was described as sexually inappropriate.

Trump denied ever writing or sending such a letter and called the entire report false and defamatory. He also lashed out at Murdoch for publishing it, claiming he warned him not to go forward with the story. Trump then announced he plans to “sue his ass off,” referring to Murdoch and his newspaper, and even suggested bringing Murdoch to court as a witness.

This lawsuit is only part of what’s making people suspicious. The Justice Department recently released a memo saying Epstein didn’t keep a hidden list of powerful clients, wasn’t blackmailing anyone, and wasn’t murdered in his jail cell.

The report said he died by suicide. That conclusion upset a lot of people, especially in Trump’s MAGA movement, who have long believed there’s a cover-up involving powerful elites and Epstein’s connections.

Many of Trump’s supporters feel betrayed and have been demanding that the government release all of its documents about the case. But instead of supporting their calls for more information, Trump turned on them. On his social media platform, Truth Social, he posted a message telling them to stop talking about Epstein. He called the whole thing a hoax and even said he no longer wants the support of people obsessed with the case.

That statement made waves among his base, with some seeing it as a major break from the man they’ve stood behind for years. At the same time, JD Vance’s secret visit to the Murdoch ranch added fuel to the fire. Almost immediately, social media exploded with theories.

Some users accused Vance of scheming behind Trump’s back to take his place as the future leader of the movement. One person suggested that Vance’s meeting with the Murdochs wasn’t about stopping the Epstein stories but rather about negotiating how the media will handle a possible leadership handoff. Others said it looked like Vance was quietly preparing to step in if Trump falls.

Some of the accusations got even wilder, with one person claiming that Vance will be swapped in for Trump as part of a backroom plan to shift power. Another said Murdoch’s aggressive stance against Trump suggests that forces behind the scenes are working to weaken Trump’s control. A few even described Vance’s actions as a “coup,” calling him disloyal and dangerous to Trump’s presidency.

Despite the uproar, Vance defended Trump publicly. He said the *Wall Street Journal* story was totally false and called out the paper for never showing the letter to Trump before publishing it. He implied the article was unethical and accused the media of pushing a smear campaign. His comments seemed meant to show loyalty to Trump, but for some, it was too little, too late.

The whole situation has created a perfect storm of paranoia and distrust in Trump’s circle. Longtime supporters are angry, feeling like their concerns about Epstein are being ignored or brushed off. They also don’t know who to trust within the movement anymore. The idea that Vance, Trump’s own running mate, could be quietly positioning himself for a takeover has caused real tension. Whether or not the rumors are true, the perception alone has already created damage.

At the heart of it all is a growing sense that Trump is losing his grip on the movement he built. Between the legal battles, the media attacks, the backlash from his base, and now suspicions about his vice president, things are getting messy.

What once felt like a united front is now showing signs of deep fractures. And even though Vance says he’s still with Trump, the whispers and rumors continue to spread. Some believe it’s only a matter of time before there’s a full-on power shift within the MAGA world, with or without Trump’s blessing.
