Woman who got full-body MRI scan out of curiosity left stunned after it revealed a life-threatening condition

Sarah Blackburn, a woman from the United States, decided to get a full-body MRI scan out of curiosity, hoping it would give her peace of mind about her health. However, the scan revealed a life-threatening condition she had no idea about, leaving her stunned and terrified.

Sarah, who shared her story in a viral TikTok video, explained that she didn’t have any health concerns or symptoms before the scan. She visited one of Prenuvo’s medical diagnostic imaging centers in Dallas, paying $2,500 out of pocket for the scan, as it wasn’t covered by insurance. What she thought would be a routine check-up turned into a life-changing moment when the results came back just four days later.

The scan revealed that Sarah had a **splenic artery aneurysm**, a rare and dangerous condition, especially for women who have had multiple pregnancies. The report included a note stating that the condition had a **one in three mortality rate**, which sent Sarah into a panic.

“I went into a full-blown panic attack and ended up in the emergency room because I needed a doctor to explain what this meant,” Sarah said. “In the report that they sent me, without any other context, it says one in three mortality rate. That is how my health anxiety started, and it was a really dark and hard two months where I was spiraling and freaking out and seeing a lot of doctors.”

Sarah described feeling like a “ticking time bomb” was inside her body, as she had no prior symptoms or awareness of the condition. After consulting with multiple doctors, she decided to undergo surgery to remove her spleen, a procedure that was ultimately successful.

Now recovering, Sarah is adjusting to life without her spleen and reflecting on the unexpected turn of events. While the scan was expensive, she believes it was worth it, as it potentially saved her life by catching the aneurysm before it could rupture.

Sarah’s story highlights the importance of early detection and the potential benefits of advanced medical imaging, even for those who feel healthy. However, it also serves as a reminder of the emotional toll that such discoveries can take, especially when they come as a complete surprise.
