Donald Trump goes embarrassingly off-script and launches political attack in front of the King (Video)

At a grand state dinner held in his honor at Windsor Castle, the U.S. President strayed from his carefully prepared speech and instead launched into a series of unscripted remarks that surprised many. What was supposed to be a formal and diplomatic occasion quickly turned political as he criticized his opponents back home, praised his own administration, and made bold claims about America being “the hottest country in the world.”

Such comments are normally avoided at events of this kind, especially with the King present, since state banquets are meant to focus on friendship and diplomacy rather than partisan politics. Nevertheless, the President took the opportunity to attack his predecessor Joe Biden, describing the United States as weak and “sick” under his leadership, and boasting that things had since turned around under his own. He went on to suggest that no one questioned America’s strength anymore, even crediting the King for being part of that success.

He also touched on controversial subjects, including what appeared to be subtle remarks about freedom of speech in the UK. At one point, he mentioned that the Union Jack flag is “ever flown,” which some interpreted as a nod to ongoing debates in Britain over the public display of flags.

Alongside his political points, the President did include moments of flattery. He spoke warmly about the British royal family, describing the Princess of Wales as “radiant and healthy,” and praising Prince William as a remarkable son of the King with a promising future. He and the First Lady, Melania, expressed how pleased they were to meet the royal couple again.

The King, in his own speech, struck a lighter and more diplomatic tone. He reflected on the strong ties between Britain and the United States, recalling his many visits there over the years. He even joked about how, back in the 1970s, there had been speculation in the press about him possibly marrying President Nixon’s daughter, Tricia. Charles used this anecdote to highlight the enduring closeness of the two nations while also showing his trademark sense of humor.

The evening, meant as a celebration of the bond between the UK and the U.S., became memorable not just for its formal setting and historic ties, but also for the unexpected turn taken by the President’s remarks.
