“New York Will…” – New Mayor Zohran Mamdani Throws Four-Word Challenge at Trump in Victory Speech (Video)

Zohran Mamdani, the new mayor of New York City, used his victory speech to send a bold message directly to President Donald Trump. After months of being insulted and attacked by Trump, Mamdani stood on stage at the Brooklyn Paramount on November 4 and fired back, turning his win into a statement of defiance and hope.

Mamdani, 34, proudly declared his win as “a mandate for change.” He told cheering supporters that if any place could show America how to defeat Donald Trump, it was New York City — the same city that once made Trump famous. “If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him,” he said passionately. “And if there’s any way to defeat a despot, it’s by dismantling the very conditions that allowed him to gain power.”

Then, turning directly to Trump, Mamdani issued a personal challenge. “Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up.” The crowd exploded with cheers and applause, echoing through the theater.

As if on cue, Trump appeared to respond almost immediately on his social media platform, Truth Social, posting, “…AND SO IT BEGINS!” It was clear that Mamdani’s words had struck a nerve.

Throughout the campaign, Trump had mocked Mamdani, calling him a “communist” and a “nut job,” and even threatened to cut off federal funding if he became mayor. But those insults only fueled Mamdani’s determination. In his victory speech, he made it clear that he wasn’t backing down. He promised to hold New York’s wealthy landlords accountable, calling them “the Donald Trumps in our city” who had grown too comfortable exploiting tenants.

Mamdani also promised stronger support for workers and unions, vowing to expand labor protections. “We will stand alongside unions and expand labor protections,” he said, “because we know — just as Donald Trump does — that when working people have ironclad rights, the bosses who try to exploit them become very small indeed.”

The room roared again when Mamdani spoke about the city’s immigrant roots. “New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, led by an immigrant,” he declared proudly. “So, hear me, President Trump, when I say this: to get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.”

Mamdani began his speech by quoting Eugene Debs, the founder of the Socialist Party, signaling his progressive stance and belief in collective power. He also took a subtle jab at former governor Andrew Cuomo, who finished second in the race, saying, “You have delivered a mandate for a new kind of politics — a city we can afford, and a government that delivers exactly that.”

His victory marked not only a new chapter for New York City but also a symbolic blow to Trump’s influence in his hometown. Mamdani’s message was clear: New York would no longer be a place where Trump’s threats or politics could thrive — it would be a city led by courage, compassion, and the voices of ordinary people.
