After President Donald Trump finished his State of the Union address, longtime political strategist James Carville released a video with a harsh and very personal message aimed directly at him. The clip was shared by former NBC executive Mike Sington, who described Carville’s remarks as “brutal.”
In the video, Carville did not hold back. He used strong and insulting language to tell Trump that, in his view, many Americans dislike him deeply. Carville said he was not speaking just out of personal dislike, but because he believed Trump’s political standing is weakening. According to Carville, Trump is increasingly isolated and cannot fully trust the people around him.
He pointed to recent Pentagon leaks about possible military options involving Iran, suggesting that information coming out of Trump’s own administration showed internal divisions. Carville also referenced comments reportedly made by White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, claiming that even people close to Trump have criticized him. Carville argued that not only Democrats but also some Republicans in Congress are frustrated with the president.
Carville went on to say that Trump’s approval ratings are extremely low at this point in his term. He claimed that Trump is more unpopular now than any other president at a similar stage, arguing that many Americans are turned off by both his behavior and his public image.
Looking ahead to the midterm elections, Carville warned that even though Trump himself will not be on the ballot, his unpopularity could hurt Republican candidates in November. He predicted that voters would use the elections as an opportunity to express their feelings about Trump and his leadership.
Throughout the video, Carville’s tone was angry, mocking, and openly hostile. His comments quickly spread online, drawing strong reactions from both supporters and critics of the president.
