Trump mocked Biden by saying he struggled to walk up stairs, referring to a widely shared video from 2021 where Biden tripped several times while boarding Air Force One. He said Biden couldn’t even walk up a single flight of stairs without falling.
Then Trump tried to make a point about himself. He said he has to be very careful when walking, especially when getting off planes, because if he ever trips, it would become huge news. He explained that this is why he walks slowly and carefully, not trying to rush or impress anyone.
But what he didn’t mention is that he has had similar moments himself. In June 2025, Trump also stumbled while climbing the steps to Air Force One. He briefly lost his balance and had to grab the railing to steady himself. The moment was caught on camera and widely shared.
There was another incident in March 2025 when Trump tripped again while boarding Marine One. That time, he had just helped Elon Musk’s young son onto the helicopter before losing his footing on the steps.
Despite this, Trump has continued to focus on how other presidents handle stairs. He recently talked about Barack Obama, saying he was surprised Obama managed to move quickly and smoothly on stairs without falling. Trump joked about it during a speech, saying he couldn’t believe Obama didn’t have a serious fall at some point.
