Donald Trump Hit With Brutal String of Losses as Critics Say It’s Taking a ‘Humiliating Turn’”

A report from The New Republic says President Donald Trump has been facing setbacks in several areas, and things are now getting more embarrassing for him.
During a podcast discussion, reporter Asawin Suebsaeng spoke with writer Greg Sargent about what they see as a series of problems for Trump. They pointed to issues like the shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz during the ongoing conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran, court decisions that went against his policies, and political battles that are not going his way. These include the Supreme Court blocking parts of his tariff plans and his position on birthright citizenship. They also mentioned that the Justice Department dropped its case involving Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, and that his efforts around redistricting have not been successful.
Suebsaeng made it clear he is not ignoring the impact of Trump and his allies, saying they are still causing serious damage and could continue to do so at a high level while in power. But he also said that, at the same time, they are losing more than they are willing to admit publicly, especially Trump himself, who he believes would struggle to accept those losses because of his ego.
He went on to say that behind the strong and aggressive image of the MAGA movement, there is actually a lot of weakness and insecurity driving it.
The White House has tried to present these situations in a more positive way. For example, when U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced that the Justice Department was ending its investigation into Powell, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt suggested the matter was still being looked at, just in a different way.
Sargent criticized this response, saying it sounded like Leavitt was trying to make it seem like Trump was focused on details and acting in the public’s best interest. He questioned whether the bigger issue was how unrealistic that claim sounded, or the need to convince Trump himself that he is still winning, saying both are serious problems.
