shocking video captured the moment a man grabbed a police baton and used it to hit a police officer in the face (Watch)

A shocking video has captured the moment a man allegedly hit a police officer in the face with a police baton after it fell to the ground during a struggle in Birmingham.

The incident happened on the morning of Friday, July 3, on Soho Road in Handsworth. Two West Midlands Police officers were trying to arrest a man when the situation quickly turned violent.

Video shared online shows the officers struggling to get the man onto the ground. They repeatedly tell him to “get on the floor” and “stop resisting.” The man can be heard shouting back that he “can’t see.” One officer then warns him that a Taser could be used if he does not stop resisting.

As the struggle continues, one officer accidentally drops his police baton onto the road. The man quickly picks it up and shouts at the officers to “get the f*** off me.”

The video appears to show the man swinging the baton at the officers. One officer is hit in the face and falls to the ground after the blow. The attack leaves the officer injured while the other officer tries to deal with the situation.

The suspect then gets onto a bicycle and rides away along Soho Road towards Birmingham city centre before officers are able to stop him.

The injured officer was taken to hospital for treatment. He was later discharged after receiving medical care.

On Saturday, July 4, West Midlands Police appealed to the public for help in finding Mahroy Stephenson, 30, from Bartley Green.
