Donald Trump Loses It During White House Meltdown Before Suddenly Looking Up and Realizing the Camera Is Still Rolling
President Donald Trump has once again been seen personally checking on renovation work at the White House.
Over the past few weeks, Trump has made several visits to inspect changes being made around the historic building. His repeated inspections have led some people to wonder if he is trying to finish several projects as quickly as possible.
Before leaving Washington, D.C. for Camp David on Friday, the 80-year-old president stopped once again to look at the work taking place outside the White House.
Trump was joined by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and several members of his administration. Footage showed him walking around the front of the White House grounds while security officers stayed nearby.
During the visit, Trump spoke with construction workers about the large columns at the front of the building. The columns were covered with scaffolding and large protective sheets while restoration work continued.
After videos of the visit appeared online, many people shared different opinions on social media.
One person joked that Trump looked like he was choosing paint colours, saying he must be tired after all the building work. Another person commented that Trump seemed to be treating the White House like his own construction project because there always appeared to be work going on.
In another video, Trump pointed toward the curb outside the White House while speaking with members of his team. As he gave directions, he appeared to notice a nearby camera recording him. He then paused, looked toward the camera, and seemed to quietly say either “Oh” or “Wow.”
Some viewers believed he looked frustrated and described the moment as a meltdown, while others felt he was simply giving instructions to staff. One social media user remarked that Trump had a lot of energy, while others criticised him for focusing on renovation projects instead of other national and international issues.
One commenter wrote that the conflict involving Iran should be receiving more attention than decorating the White House. Another argued that repairing pillars should not be a bigger priority than the concerns of ordinary Americans.
The White House’s North Portico columns have become one of Trump’s biggest interests this year. He has visited the area several times to inspect the progress of the restoration work.
Back in May, after returning from a Memorial Day weekend trip to Camp David, Trump spent several minutes closely examining the same columns outside the Executive Mansion.
Earlier this year, Rodney Mims Cook Jr., the Trump-appointed chairman of the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, suggested replacing the current Ionic-style columns with the more decorative Corinthian style, which Trump reportedly prefers. The idea attracted widespread attention because Corinthian columns are considered the most decorative of the classical column designs.
However, the White House later said that the work being carried out is simply routine restoration and maintenance. Officials stressed that there are no plans to change the design or style of the columns.
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum also explained on “The Katie Miller Podcast” that Trump regularly walks around the White House grounds and points out areas that need repairs. According to Burgum, the president wanted small dents and damage on the columns repaired, which required workers to restore the plaster.
The renovation of the columns is only one part of a much larger makeover taking place at the White House.
One of the biggest projects is the demolition of the East Wing to make room for a new ballroom, a project estimated to cost between $400 million and $600 million.

Other changes made during Trump’s presidency include adding more gold decorations inside the Oval Office, turning parts of the Rose Garden into a patio area, and installing gold-coloured signs above entrances to the West Wing. These redesigns have continued to attract both praise from supporters and criticism from opponents, with many debating whether the changes are an appropriate use of time and resources.
