‘I’m White. That Means I’m Automatically Better Than You’: Florida Man with History of Violence Filmed Threatening to Lynch Black Popeyes Worker In Resurfaced Video

A 32-year-old man from Florida was caught on camera using a racial slur against a Black Popeyes employee and threatening to lynch her. His name is Colton Norsworthy, and he has a history of violence, including a 2014 charge for choking his partner.
After the video went viral, people online identified Norsworthy. Former members of his band, *I Killed Anubis*, publicly distanced themselves from him. The video, originally posted in 2022, resurfaced this week after being shared on X.
One band member, Chris, posted a statement on the band’s Facebook page making it clear they do not support racism. He emphasized that, as a Puerto Rican, he understands discrimination and does not want the band associated with the incident. The post also noted that Norsworthy was no longer part of the band, even though he still listed himself as a member on his personal Facebook.
Norsworthy has not been charged for the Popeyes incident, and there is no sign that police are investigating. However, records show he has been arrested multiple times since 2014 on charges like felony domestic battery by strangulation, obstructing justice, and tampering with a legal case.
In the video, Norsworthy repeatedly called the Popeyes employee the N-word—at least seven times—after claiming she had called him “cracker.” The store manager stepped in, asking him what he had said, to which Norsworthy angrily repeated the slur.
When he threatened to call the police on the employee, the manager dismissed him with a simple, “Have a nice day.” Norsworthy then continued his rant, shouting more racial slurs.
The argument escalated, with the employee insulting him back. This led Norsworthy to threaten physical violence, saying he would attack her and even hang her from a tree. As the exchange continued, he made one last racist remark before leaving, saying, “I’m white. That means I’m automatically better than you.”
Popeyes has since condemned his behavior, stating that they have zero tolerance for hate in their restaurants. The company is working with the franchise owner to support employees and improve how they handle similar situations.
